I don't know anything about French politics but the majority can be really full of **** sometimes. You know like supporting slavery and all. Hell, the majority of the united states population currently believes in christianity.

It's called dictatorship of the majority, and it is precisely what's happening in France right now. Has been for a while.

The reason the immigrants originally rioted was due to unrest caused by massive unemployment, lack of representation and alleged police brutality. French law doesn't actually grant any workers' rights to immigrants, and the French are pretty notorious for being intolerant toward foreigners. If you're an immigrant and you get hired for a job in France, you'll be making far less than a Frenchman and you'll lose that job as soon as a Frenchman wants it.

The previous government was soft on immigration which is why the conservative candidate won this time. Instead of fixing the problem they're just going to plug up the legal system so the immigrants can't come in anymore. I expect this problem to get a lot worse.

But I hate the French, so I'm really rather happy about it.

Protection of the minority is one of the cornerstones on which our nation was founded.

However, this is France. :suicide:

I was more making a joke that they were rioting out of lack of something to do.
