World of Warcraft updates

Out of all the MMORPG's that I've played (StarWars Galaxies, Dark Age of Camelot, Lineage II, City of Heroes) I'd have to say this is the best. There are a few bugs that I noticed, nothing major so far (I am only level 8). The only one that kind of ticks me off is that I can't get the water detail any higher then low. My PC is more then able to handle it, it just doesn't work.

The battle system is like a mix of Lineage II and DaoC, it's a bit more fast paced then most MMO's which is good, so you can do more things faster. Buffs and spells are really neat, although it takes a while to aquire them. You don't get new spells every level, you need to go to your trainer to learn them as you gain skill points.

Enemies are very cool, some of them are right from the Warcraft games, some of them are new. PvP is like any other MMO, you accept a challenge then you fight, but in this a battle ends once you reach one health not zero like some, so you don't lose a crap load of experience. That's if you are with a friend. With an enemy (Like an Orc or Undead..that is if your player is a NightElf or Human or something) it goes down to zero health because it isn't just a friendly game, now your actually trying to kill eachother.

Traveling is really great, you can go by Griffin or Horse (So far that's all I know of) or just by foot. Griffins come in handy, because this game is huge (The beta is 5 gig)

The game looks great and there is some really neat new things in this game. The dancing is holarious, you have to see it to belive it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I'm really bad at explaining things as you can see, so here are some screenshots.

But first I'd like you all to see how much Thrawn42689 really loves me.

Oh yeah...that's right...Anyway.... On to the screen shots.

Starcraft: Ghost looks reasonable.. but otherwise I'd have to agree. At least, warcraft 3 should definately have had better graphics.

He's a Druid, and to tell for sure, look at the second picture. It shows Wrath, Healing Touch, and Mark of the Wild in his quick bar. ^^

How does the Griffin and Horse system work? Do you keep them or is it like in FFXI you have to pay so much based on their usage throughout the world, which I hate a lot.

Mounts (horses, rams, wolves, etc.) are available at level 40. I believe you need to train the skill or something. Then you get a call mount ability or somesuch, which only works outdoors.

Griffons, bats, zeppelins, etc. are fast travel. You go from point A to point B. You can't "own" them as far as I know.

This is all info I've gleaned from forums and from salivating over this game for quite some time....

After my friend saw the Thrawn one he said "DUDE MAKE ME ONE AND PUT DOME ON IT!" So I did [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Anyway, my guess is NOT this year. Europe beta...then Open Beta.... Maybe Early 2005 is my guess...Possibly 2004, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Lineage 2 was horrible. I have never seen a MMORPG that so blatantly held players back. 4x the cost of my current sword for one with slightly better damage? No thanks.

Don't even get me started on how ridiculously difficult it was to solo.

All in all, WoW > Lineage 2. And that's an understatement.

Yeah..uh why? It looks awesome close up. ALL textures in any game are going to look repetitive from far away in ANY game.

How does loading work on MMORPG's? I've always wondered is it something like morrowind or is the whole game loaded when you start?

Depends on the game. In SWG planet loaded as you moved across it and if you switched between planets it was about a minute to load the textures and characters of whichever planet you were going to.

Can you not steer your mounts? I absolutely loved playing DAoC, but not being able to steer your mounts really costs you alot of valuable playing time. What exactly is the reason for many MMORPG's not allowing you to steer mounts? Can I possibly say mounts anymore?

...mounts. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Well in WoW we have boats, but they don't work so you can just get teleported everywhere for free for now :P You can't steer Grifins, but you can steer certain horses or wolfs or lions if you ever buy one.

As for loading, the entire game loads at once. But it only takes maybe 5-10 seconds. I was surprised because usually DaoC took a good 1 min. or so. It's really sweet. Log in, pick your character...click...your in.

Lineage 2 was amazingly easy to solo, because if you were ever near death others would help you if they were high enough level. Trust me I know [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif].

Also the holding back thing I have no idea what you're talking about. I was level like 35 orc warrior, had some sort of set of claws that let me kill the shrooms in one hit. How? I picked it up. That's how you get things in that game, by picking them up.
