Lineage 2 was awesome, but it really has nothing on WoW.

Lineage is a very interesting game, in that it really caters for Korean culture. I don't know about Lineage 2, they seem to have tried to expand that, and perhaps made it more Western.

Lineage 2 is horrible, and will always be horrible in my mind. The game is the epitome of the boring level treadmill. Go here, kill these for 5 levels, then these, which are really just a palette swap of those but still, then go here, get this, then go back to killing more of these. It's just boring.

From what I understand of WoW, you can either hunt to your hearts content, or level entirely on quests, or mix the two. Which sounds interesting.

Lineage 2 you level on quests too, and you get to siege castles, and ride animals, and...meh. To each his own. WoW wll whipe the floor with it.

Are they going to be doing a RvR system like DAoC? I had more fun RvRing (both frontier and battlegrounds) than anything in that game. PvP is fine and dandy, but RvR is a blast.

The entire game is a big bloody RvR in a way. The Hoard and the Alliance both live in the two continents. and you can walk through a town and see no fighting at all, but if you type in '/join worlddefense' suddenly you can see all the battles going on in that area. I'ts spiffy. So you don't HAVE to fight, only if you want...Oh wait..that's more PvP eh? Well its PvP server and Beta Server right now..thats it.

What is this not being able to steer a mount stuff? In FFXI you can steer your choco all you want . Not being able to steer a mount just seems pointless. Is there a time limit for how long you can ride a mount? In XI I think it is something like 30min.

You can steer land-mounts. Flying mounts you can't, but you do get to watch as you fly over everything from point A to point B. (Unlike in Galaxies where you simply teleported from one starport to another)

Yes! I do some quests, but 90% of what I do is hunt, and then skin the animals I hunt (A skill I learned) Then I either sell the leather for lots of cash or give it to friends to make armor for me.

WoW is really catering for the casual gamer, the guy that plays an hour or two every other day. Lineage and Everquest (and possibly Everquest 2?) cater for the total powergamer, requiring you to play many hours every day.

This is the reason for the 'controversial' rest system. WoW isn't really about PvP. They're adding it, but I really don't think it's going to be a huge element, nor should it.

The thing that irritates me about WoW at the moment is the faction system.
I played Everquest for a while, and one of my characters was an Ogre, and another was a Wood elf. I didn't particularly like the Ogre home town, but the wood elf place was great. But Ogres are kill-on-sight by the Wood elf guards. So, after killing hundreds of orcs, I bumped up my faction so I was tolerated by wood elves, and a few hundred more and they would trade with me. Of course, I was kill-on-sight by Ogres, but I could now live in the wood elf place.
You can't do this in WoW, it seems. The reputation system is only for other critters. There seems to be an individable gap between the Horde and Alliance, even on the non-PvP server. I don't really like this, but I guess the WoW storyline is a lot more about race. :-\

Hey, that might not be permanent. Especially if the gradually work in the WC3 storyline. Dark Elves + Humans + Orcs vs Burning Legion = <3 .

WoW takes place several years after WC3. There is no Burning Legeon.

I'm not sure why exactly the Alliance hate the Horde again now, though.
