Some weird Christian "BAN DOOM 3" site...

As a Christian myself, the only aspect of the Doom series that I had found offensive was the over use of Satanic symbols covered all over the levels. I'm sure all Christians find that to be very offensive as well and is the main reason why most Christians would want to stay away from such a game (not to mention that Quake series as well - except for Quake II since that game didn't have any of that). If Doom 3 doesn't include anything really satanic looking (like pentagrams and such), I wouldn't have a problem with it but if it does have it, I'll probably just boycott it like I have with the other Doom games.

Pokemon IS evil. Go to this website for further proof. Oh, and make sure to see the Harry Potter portion of it.

..or, alternatively, avoid it like the plague, and save yourself from being scarred/scared by the blind, blabbering, lying words of the 14 year old idiot who runs the page.

I didn't find the textyuring in the doom levels to be too offensive.

The texturing in some doom levels is par excellance (like the texturing in the first episode of Doom I) , but at some points in doom2 they get realy sloppy, with the same animated texture slapped over all the walls and ceiling and the areas don't even resemble the places they are supposed to be. (I'm thinking of the Suburbs map and the downtown map in doom2 specifically.)

I wonder what these people would think about Postal II-- a game that lets you piss on cops, kill protesters, and even burn Gary Coleman alive.

The only reason I'd stay away from Doom is because of becuase of the pathetic/lack of story line, and its preety gory. I don't mind gore if its realistic, but I'm not all together sure that all that gore for gore's sake is right. I duno. But what were those people who said, " habitation of other planets God did not intend for us to live on, and the use of guns." thinking? It's JUST A GAME for crying out loud! Oh, and do they think guns are bad? Very, very, wierd.

I'm not going to be getting Doom 3 because I'm a chicken****. I can't stand mindless enemies that just charge you in an effort to rip you apart. That's why I never played Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, or any AvP campaign besides the Alien campaign. I'm playing Far Cry right now and the trigens scare the **** out of me.

Why does the use of Satanic symbols in a game offend you? It's not like they're saying, "BLEGH! Christians are bad!" Actually, from what I have read Satanism has nothing to do with monsters and demons and such, it's just another way of thinking, (not one of the worst I can think of, BTW).

Now think, if there were Stars of David all over the walls in DooM III, would that offend you, or the Jewish people? Obviously I think the people who's symbols are associated with the hell-raising and such should be much more offended. They just use pentagrams and things because these symbols have a bad rep (BECAUSE of Christianity, might I add, but that's beside the point) and make the average player feel scared because of this evil representation the symbol has.

Really, why the hell is a Christian offended by pentagrams in a game?

First, I want to thank everyone for taking the time to visit the site, and sending me hatemail/praise/death threats. It was really fun getting a chance to read all of your emails. The site was not taken down because of legal reasons, but because I can't afford the bandwidth costs anymore. This site was intended as a joke, which started on the Gopostal Forums. What was a 5 minute idea, quickly became a website, with images and ideas submitted by several people. This site was not meant to offend anyone, but simply to make fun of all of the current problems in the videogame industry. I myself am not religious, and I respect everyone's opinions and freedom of speech. I would never want a game banned simply because someone thinks it is damaging to our nation's youth. Being a member of the Postal community, I understand what it's like to be hated by many organizations that are trying to get rid of freedom of speech in games.</font>

Do any of these Christian "Ban Everything" groups ever accomplish anything?
No.
And it gets tiresome.

Sure, Doom has had a lot of Satanic stuff. But crap, it's just a game. How many people want to worship Satan after playing Doom?

Duh... satanic symbols offend Christains because the devil is our enemy. I thought that was obvious? Not only that, there is something called "points of contact". I'm sure God would be displeased to see his followers messing around with something that has references to the devil so obviously we Christians should stay away from that stuff.

But SavageX, the whole point of the game is to FIGHT the evil the symbols represent. It's not like your character worships it.

Yeah is it just me or do all these "Ban everything popular" sites seem a little over the top? It's like a cult against anything and everything that moves. Somebody please point me to an anti pokemon/doom/harry potter/etc. site run by Buddhist, Hindu, Islamists or Atheists and I'll shut up.

True, but that is not the point. The point is that a game that shows such symbols opens up a "point of contact" to the occult. That may sound loony to unbelievers but the Bible warns that we as Christians need to stay away from anything that might be a point of contact. Plus, I just find it vexing to so that kind of stuff.
