Are you sure thats not a SNES game? It looks almost too detailed for a NES game.

I think it looks detailed because it's been blurred. Perhaps from an emulator screenshot, or just from whatever program he used.

What about Contra?

It is from a NES game, the actual full screenshot is really small, so in order to make a crop that was easy enough to tell what it was I had to blow it up.

Also, no to all answers thus far. However, to give a hint, it's an action RPG, something in the style of the Zelda games on NES (Note: Not Zelda).

This game did have really nice graphics for the time, it was one of the later NES titles, I believe.
