Thanks Tinny! That worked.

Oh yeah, or diamond + enter does the approximation symbol which I think what Rob is referring to which is probably easier in most cases.

I do not recall learning any "diamond" shaped button in 6th grade.
Well thanks again Tinny, and here's what it looked like:

Or you could do it both ways and learn even more in the given amount of time.

Good luck using your TI-89. I know my math department has a policy against them for classes like calc since they can do algebraic math for you... kinda defeats the point of teaching you how to do it yourself if you can just type it in during a test and get the answer.

Thing is, I always find that it usually way faster to do it by hand, unless you have some stupidly complex algebra left over after you perform an integral. But you don't get that sort of stuff in an Algebra class.

I have a TI-89, but I rarely used it in college. It is usually faster just to do it in your head than it is to punch it in the calculator. If the problem is too difficult to do, I look it up on a table.

My point was kinda that it isn't necessary (for first year Calc?) when an 84 costs ~$50 less and does just fine. And has a less retarded interface/button layout.

No, but you sure would have learned the approximation sign if you had paid attetion. (I mean it's RIGHT ****ing there over the enter key. :downswords:)

Well, I do know the approximation sign (Squiggly equal sign) but you didn't have to be such an *** about it Rob. Instead of your *****ing ("OMFG ITS SO EASY NUMBNUT) you could have just told me straight up. But wait, it's Rob, the person who always has to have the last word in every argument so he can go to bed at night and know he "inTeNet pwnEd" some person's ***. Yeah, I didn't see or recognize that Approx. sign on this calculator because I've been using the TI-86 calculator for 4 years now (which has the word "ENTRY" and not the approx. sign above the "Enter" sign.

Anyways, thank you to all of those who were helpful.
