I've just remembered an interesting and related story, which thankfully doesn't really involve me. A couple of weeks ago I was on the train into the city centre from the town I live in to meet some friends for a night out. For some reason the train came to a stop right before one of the stations on the journey. We were there for about ten minutes before a message came up apologising for the delay, and we pulled into the station. A couple got on and sat on the seats opposite me, and started complaining about what they'd just seen. Apparently, the reason our train was stopped was that the train ahead of us couldn't leave due to a 13 year old girl who was so drunk she couldn't stand up of her own volition, and who had to be removed from the train by security.
This was about 8.15pm. That's what youth drinking can be like in England
