There will be a demo released on the playstation network on thursday for the highly anticipated game
Heavenly Sword .

This is one of the first potentially great "next-gen" games for PS3, alongside with Lair and Metal Gear Solid 4.

This is really exciting for me because my PS3 has been used primarily for PS2 games and, occasionally, Resistance.
(As well as the Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Motorstorm demos but I'm too cheap to buy them.)
I intend to check it out.

They should really just change the name PS3 to MGS4.
nope.

The same way MGS3 came out for Xbox?
the same way Halo 3 could come out for PS3?
/sarcasm for both

There's a far better chance of MGS4 coming out for 360 than there is for Halo 3 on PS3.

Not really, I'm willing to bet that Sony though millions Hideo's way to keep it from going to the 360.

Although I'm quite disappointed I'll never see MGS4 on my 360, but it's not enough for me to throw down $600 for the bloody console.

(Xbox 360, 20 GB HDD, controller, component cables, GH2 for $450, yes please)

Hideo doesn't have much to do with it. He doesn't run Konami. So if Konami decides it's wise to port it to make up for production costs...

At least so I read... I can't remember where... and it very likely wasn't reliable. But it's still something to think about.

Konami has done almost everything except actually say that MGS4 is coming to the 360.

Hell, just go look at that last quote of theirs "We want to keep MGS4 on the Playstation, but we may need to do something".

I mean, hello? Duh?

The only MGS game that went to Xbox to my knowledge was MGS2.
if MGS3 was on XBOX as well, I'd give MGS4 a chance, perhaps

yeah see

microsoft owns the company that is making halo 3.

on the other hand, mgs4 will never turn a profit as long as it's a ps3 exclusive.

EDIT:

The only person who has ever said MGS4 is not coming to Xbox 360 is Hideo Kojima who is still under the mistaken impression that his insane ramblings and poorly-written convoluted plots are worth 20 hours of 1080p FMV.
2007-07-24, 5:59 PM #15
I thought Kojima has said a couple times at the E3 press conference that it's still an exclusive?

Also, Lair looks like crap. It's Rogue Squadron with dragons. They even have tanker dragons that just sit there so you can destroy them. It's retarded.

I'm actually really really interested in Heavenly Sword. Unfortunately it's the only PS3 game I'm interested in (even assuming the PS3 doesn't lose any more exclusives) and I'm never going to spend a billion dollars on one 12 hour long brawler.

Metroid Prime 1, Overlord, Gears of War, Pikmin, Dawn of War, the classic platformers (Mario 3, Mario World, Sonic 3 & Knuckles), Katamari Damacy 1,....

you know, games? fun games? that have gameplay? As opposed to wannabe works of art, poorly-written movies with the occasional semi-interactive intermission, and gimmicky tripe that gets boring after 5 minutes?

Yeah, how about that?

Heavenly Sword is precisely the kind of game I would enjoy but unfortunately it's coming out for a console that has absolutely nothing else to offer me and never will.

You probably won't even like Heavenly Sword then. It is going to have tons of FMV/cutscene.

Veger, this is a messageboard where when someone mentions gaming it almost always ends up in flames, thread lock, and people getting banned. Which is my point entirely.

And also: this is a website that was dedicated to the editing of an old star wars game that basically no-one edits anymore.

I'm curious, what do you think about games like Far Cry or Serious Sam? They aren't meant to be complicated or new, but they're still fun because they're over the top. And in the case of Serious Sam, cheap.

Also you're missing System Shock 2 and Deus Ex from your list. :awesome:

Actually the DX AI sucks balls but the rest of it is so awesome it doesn't matter.

Oh and Thief.

But that's right you hate PCs.

I still haven't played Deus Ex. I loved Thief 1 - well, the idea anyway. The first mission of Thief 1 was amazing and then it was immediately followed up with a cave full of spiders and zombies you couldn't sneak past. Never got around to playing the sequels.

Serious Sam is on my list of favorite games. So is Half-Life 1, but not Half-Life 2 for reasons I have previously explained in great detail.

I think System Shock 2 is the most overrated game ever and sorta sits in the (for me) unfun limbo between survival horror/fps and rpg. They give you a lot of options to complete the game but only a couple of them are viable. I hated weapon repair skills and weapon skills in general and I felt pretty much all of the gameplay was off-kilter and counter-intuitive.

I was also especially frustrated by the fact that, in an effort to artificially raise the game's difficulty, they gave firearms to enemies that instantly broke as soon as the enemy died. It is profoundly stupid and completely defeats the entire purpose of setting up the game like that.

The game had amazing atmosphere though.

I do like games. Good games. Apparently I look for different things than most of the people on the forums. Pretentious phony-profound bull**** stories will particularly turn me off of a game. Especially when you're talking about a sequel to a simple, straight-forward, fun game and some retarded producer gets it into their heads that they're writing the next great epic (Half-Life, Metal Gear)

That's probably the worst part about it. Gun upkeep was usually too difficult, at least without a high repair skill. You could also use the Entropy psi power, or just use a lot of psi powers instead.

Actually, Looking Glass released a patch that let you slow the rate of weapon decay or turn it off entirely.

I don't really want to get involved in this discussion, though.

I don't think anyone likes that, maybe it's just that we don't mind it as much. I never played the first Metal Gear, but I liked MGS because it was fun to play. Of course that was before Splinter Cell, which absolutely blows it away in terms of gameplay. Story too, since I mean, yeah it's Tom Clancy, but at least it's within limits.

I'm not sure what to make of Half-Life's story. It could actually shape into something good, but we've been dragged through two games and one episode and we still don't really know what the hell is going on.

I loves me some Sam Fisher. Finally got Double Agent for Xbox earlier this week since I heard it played out the story better than the 360 version. So far it's ok. I like Chaos Theory more though. I think most of my dislike of DA stems mostly from Splinter Cell's new direction though.

I have the PC version but it's buggy as hell. It won't even run on Vista.

It's ironic, because Chaos Theory ran perfectly.
