I doubt MGS4 won't make it to Xbox 360. Exclusive titles shouldn't be so exclusive for long.

What I've noticed for the Xbox version is that the graphics suck hard. Compared to Chaos Theory, this is a huge step down. It's mostly making up for it in gameplay and story, but I miss CG cutscenes between levels, the in game ones suck. I've noticed a few bugs as well, but I'm not sure if that's the game, or the backwards compatibility on the 360.

I only played through the first few levels in the 360 version while a friend rented it awhile back, so it's not the BEST basis for comparison, but it seems to me that the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube versions (which are all the same) take a hit to graphics, tell the story better, and play more like classic Splinter Cell. Whereas the 360/PS3/PC (I think the PC version is the same as the 360 version...) versions have amazing graphics, skimp on story details and thus leave plot holes, and have a more dramatic and cinematic gameplay approach.

That said, I think Double Agent is going to end up one of the only games I've ever bought twice, because I'm interested in playing through both versions now.

So the demo was very short, only about 3-5 minutes, but what I saw was gloriously awesome.

First 2-3 minutes of combat and my death made me disappointed, but I went in the options, saw all the combo moves, gave a few a try, and my opinion changed dramatically.

It's like an asian take on God of War, minigames, combos, various finishing moves for kills. Unlike God of War, the gameplay is more fluid than aggressive (in other words, you don't feel like you're going to say "BOW BEFORE THE GOD OF WAR," more like "bet you didn't see that coming." or "I can do karate with 2 swords faster than you can react" or something)

There were some (random?) finishing moves for enemies that occurred 2 or 3 times I played through the demo. The L1 button was an alternate (light?) attack mode, where the R1 button was a slower (heavy) magic attack mode. With the light mode I was able to swing a chain and knock 4-5 enemies off a platform at once, dropping my jaw, but it seemed to be a perfectly timed attack, as I wasn't able to re-create it.

There are 2 attack buttons, and then the circle button, which seemed to throw into some "special" finishing moves/attacks (at the expense of using 1/3 powerups or something. I think they charge up after you've been fighting awhile)

It does use the traditional right thumbstick to roll out of the way, like God of War, but moving it in the opposite direction when under attack also seemed to block moves (I could be mistaken...but it seemed like a cool design).

The introduction was very very cool, a minigame when you have to run/slide along falling ropes (a la final fantasy 10).
The graphics were very very good. Occasionally I caught myself thinking they could use some tweaking, but overall I was impressed.

I AM looking forward to this game.
My only fear is that it might be a short 10-12 hours.
however, I have no doubt that it will be one of the PS3 top 10, if not one of the top 3-4.

Hmm seems like a good game. How challenging was the demo? I hope this game and Lair will live up to its expectations. By the way, I think 10-12 hours is fine for an action game (pretty much how long the God of War games are along with Devil May Cry). In your opinion, what is the ideal length for an action game?

15-20 hours is the ideal length for me. Games like Half-life 2 and Resident Evil 4 were perfect because of the length.

The demo wasn't too challenging. it took me 2 tries, and it took my brother 1 try.

HL2 was about the perfect length, but I like my PS2 games a bit shorter. About 13 hours I'd say.

But that may just be because I just put 6 straight hours into RE4 and still have an hour to go. Damn you, fifth chapter and your non-abundant ammo! :argh:

They spend too much time now trying to make the game shiny and crap.

Because we all know more polygons are superior to good and lasting gameplay.

Sure if you like levels with bland and repetitive designs. Look at Shinobi for the PS2 for instance; it's a fun game, but the level designs are so bland and empty.

What about games like Goldeneye, Crash Bandicoot, Point Blank, CTR or Mario64?

Those games were huge and kickass. If anyone calls them bland, they obviously have no soul and are being paid large sums by EA.
