And besides, you need to get a memory stick for the PSP to actually use the homebrew, right? Are those free?

Oh, you mean an emulated version of the old one? That'd require the SNES emulator to be ready for public download. I don't think I said that emulators for other systems other than NES were ready, just in the works.

You just said everything I had said was wrong. Guess it wasn't? Everything I have seen shows some pretty pathetic SNES emulators. What's the holdup? (Wait, I know, it's the speed.)

No, the PSP comes with a memory stick.

I don't understand the whole homebrew thing at all :/

Actually the homebrew scene for the psp is RIDICULOUS. Most of the time homebrew makes up a very small percentage of console owners, but in the PSP's case it's the exact opposite.

You have to get one for the DS too, so it's a moot point. You just also have to drop money on an adapter.

So what you're saying is the only emulator out and working is the NES one.

PSP has SCUMM, SNES, Genesis, n64, PSX, MAME among many many others.

Not to mention wifi radio, gps, texting, portable tv, and awesome movie/tv show/music usage.

Seriously, you've lost this one. The PSP's homebrew scene is much larger, better, and more fleshed out than the DS'. I've owned BOTH handhelds and still like the PSP more (I wish mine didn't have 300 dead pixels when I sold it, but that's what happens when you let people use it and they drop it 500 times. Cocksuckers.), if only because of the homebrew, though I like the library quite a bit more also (aside from Megaman ZX and the Castlevania series.)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and this thread's already godwin'd /_\

Whatever the DS lacks in speed is made up for by the "Funky crap".

I haven't read much into the more recent PSP homebrew since I got a DS, but when I was researching when decided which to get I don't remember being able to play PSP games on the PSP in uh... "Other" ways. Does the PSP act as it's own emulator?

Without becoming a black brick, of course. Which seems to plague the homebrew PSP community.

Haha, there's really next to no bricking out there (unless you're a tester, or are stupid and don't give the community time to test the software that comes from unsigned producers), not to mention yes, you can play PSP games for free if you really want to, and if that's what you're alluding to.

You're flat out wrong, sorry bro.

I remember you warning me that bricking happened a lot when I was researching the PSP. If that's changed, then good for it. I might actually consider it in the long run.

That is, if good games ever come out for it.

If you mean running ISO's of games, yes it is capable. Just as the DS is capable of running copies of games.

Bricking the DS is just as likely as it is on the PSP. Nowadays bricking is only for those who can't follow simple 3 step instructions. Almost all custom firmwares have recovery software and many checks to avoid this. You almost have to try to brick a PSP anymore.

I never said a lot, though it has always been a discreet possibility. If you're careful it's fine and you'll never run into that problem.

And Good games?

Yoshi just won the thread for linking Wipeout.
nope.
2007-07-29, 4:42 PM #52
I still remember using Wipeout as a web browser way back before the PSP had it's own. Lawl.
