I would say I am definately more of a jerk to people on the internet than strangers in real life. The thing is though, I'm a huge jerk to my friends, and they get that. They know I don't seriously mean it when I tell them I want to kill them or see them trapped under a burning vehicle. I suppose that comes with an Australian sense of humour but I'm rarely serious in real life and that's how I act on the internet. So from my perspective, I'm actually friendlier to people on the internet than strangers in real life. How's that for spin!
I kind of agree with Kuat but this is what I've noticed.
On the internet, person A is a jerk but nice in person. But if random jerk B approached person A in the street and called them a douche and then walked away, person A would probably be bemused and not give much care to it. But on the internet, they get called a douche and they go ****ing crazy over it.
It goes both ways. Some people are just indifferent to the internet, and others hyper-sensitive to it.
