Wow, nice terrain you got there! What terrain generator did you use to make that?

Then I exported it as a model, did some slight model tweaks, made one giant 1024x1024 rock texture, painted on the rest...the moss and the mud (to simulate the phong-shader look, only you're not limited to the vertcies, so it looks better) - then I cut holes in the terrain for the map architecture, itself. It's a non-solid detail model, since no one's gonna actually be walking on it (at least not all of it). I like this terrain method, best, since It seems to give you some nice detail, without killing the framerate, or taking forever to compile - you don't need to worry about too many over-lapping textures and you get the EXACT look you want.
