Is anyone buying this? I never purchased HL2 EP1, so I figure it might as well. I need to decide if I want it for PC or 360, though. Something about playing HL without a keyboard and mouse seems very wrong, yet I haven't logged much time gaming on my PC in months, so I'm kind of torn. Too bad you can't just pay like $10 more and have it for both.

Oops, thought the date said September 10th (stupid ambiguous numerical dates). Guess I have longer to think about this than I expected.

After more thinking, I'm pretty sure I'll go for the PC version. It'll be cheaper, I can use keyboard and mouse, and it'll probably have better longevity. After a couple of months you can expect nobody on LIVE to be playing it anymore, whereas for PC there are still active TFC servers.

If it weren't for portal, there's no way I'd touch it with a 10 foot pole. Ep1 and 2 are just stupid SP missions that dribble storyline into your blood stream instead of, you know, new gameplay, resources, or just weapons.

I'm actually most interested in TF2, since I've been waiting nearly 10 years for it.

I said it in another thread, but...

I'm no fan of Steam. It might be a great service, and extremely similar to Xbox Live Marketplace now, but I just don't like it. The idea of having to load up another program to play my games is one I strongly dislike. My PC is also dated now, and I stopped playing PC games on a regular basis right around the time HL2 came OUT. I realize the PC version will have ungodly amounts of user created content, but I'll consider that my price to pay for getting it for the 360, where I won't have to deal with Steam, and it'll run as soon as I stick the disc in without any issues.

*shrugs* I don't care. If it plays well, it plays well. If not, I have how many other games in that package to try? Portal is what I care about the most, and I see no reason why it won;t play just fine on the 360.

I never had a real want to play through HL2, and when I finally did, I stopped about half way through, if THAT, because it was boring me. I just want some Portal action that won't force me to use a piece of software I dont like.

HL2 on Xbox was very good. I borrowed a friends copy. I never picked it up because I hoped something like this release would come.

I'll be getting it for 360. HL2 ran fine-but-not-great on my PC, so I decided to hold off on getting EP1.

You'll still get TF2 with Ep2 if you don't get the orange box, right? I don't want to buy that big *** set when I already own HL2 and Episode 1. That would bring my count to 2 copies of HL2, 2 copies of CS:S, 2 copies of Episode 1, and 1 of the rest.

I'm actually kind of unsure about this, there's a fair amount of unanswered questions regarding the orange box, like if there's interplayability between consoles and PCs, and the questions you asked, as well.

I really hope that Valve doesn't go that route. I also hope that Episode 2 is only to the tune of at most $29 or so if the Orange Box is going to be $59. Given the content delivered to the SP it'd be a shame to charge even that much if they don't include Portal and TF2. Oh well, I guess if they're going to be money grubbing and NOT give you the other two PROMISED games with vanilla Ep2 I'll probably have to give in and buy the stupid orange box. Stupid Valve. Why did I have to get hooked on CS:S in the first place. Dammit. I blame Luke. It was his stupid LAN party.

thats so stupid. no one's played ep2 so you wouldnt know about half of that, and youre wrong,

-theres a new vehicle
-a bunch of new enemies and characters
-theres a new weapon (some kinda bomb that kills striders i heard).

dont exactly understand new gameplay as that's been different with every game ever made because no two games can have the same gameplay (or if you wanna go with the comepletely dumbed down version. every FPS has the same gameplay and your point is null)

and plus, theres a reason why it's only 10 bucks on steam. they are [shorter than full game] episodes adding to the series. you dont re-vamp your entire engine and everything about your game for a further episode.

plus, for the price of a normal video game (50 USD) you get
-HL2(for people who dont already have it, and i think that includes CS:S)
-Ep1
-Ep2
-Portal
-TF2

that's ****ing ridiculous for 50 bucks(and still a great deal for 60 if youre talking about consoles). even if you count Ep1 and Ep2 as half games, you're getting an amazing deal on 3 brand new amazing looking games, and 2 older(but not dated), amazing games.

even if any of you already have HL2 and Ep1, this is a great deal. and i'm a really really cheap guy.

besides, if you have a copy of either of them already, sell it on ebay. i dont think theyre going to be putting everything in the orange box on ONE BIG DISC.
