Why do people steal?
2007-09-10, 8:57 PM #41
Mankind is in a fallen state, and we steal because we are sinful. (I imagine someone might rip on that, but it's very true.)

I actually put a giant Hello Kitty sticker on my laptop, for to make it stand out from the billion other Dell laptops, and hopefully deter thieves a little bit.

Eh, the group of friends I have act exactly like Rob in that regard in real life. You do something stupid back in 1998? We still mention it every day.

For example, a friend bought Waverace 64 when it came out for $79 or so back when he was like, 12 or so, with his saved allowance. Now every time we talk about purchases, that is always brought up. It's just how the group works. There is no malice behind the words, it's just poking fun. We do quick fire insult matches, going through every secret and shame we know about the other person.

I mean, it kinda has benefits as well, maybe toughens you up a bit. I work in a public service field, and will invariably deal with irate and rude people. You can't get all huffy, you need to take things in stride. People have said worse things to me, face to face in real life, when I'm pretty much in charge of their care, and I brush it off. It's a handy skill, because in the end it really doesn't matter that some dude was mean to you.

It only matters when it somehow hampers your goals in some way, like a coworker balling you out in front of your superior making you look incompetent. Even then, it serves you well to deal with the situation calmly, not "you're being a big doo-doo head". I still don't get the whole "I'm mad at you over the internet" thing, because in real life it seldom matters when someone is being a prick. For your own good, thicken your skin a bit. If Rob, who we've come to expect these comments from, pisses you off here, I'm afraid to see how you'd deal with a real life confrontation.

It's one thing to do that in a circle of close friends, but you couldn't very well go around doing that kind of thing to everyone in your high school with out getting the crap beaten out of you fairly regularly. There's a difference.

It's not like there's one uniform version of thievery nor type of thievery.

There are many different reasons for theft, and some can be viewed as just, and others unjust.

I only got beaten up like twice in highschool. How many times did your mom beat you up at school?

And even then, it wasn't bad. No one can finish the job.

But I also had alot of what one might called acquaintances who thought I was hilarity comedy king. Alot of people thought it was because I was an art-***. Others that knew me well, thought it was because I came from a "broken home." Even then, some people thought I was just a gay guy with a snappy attitude, but I didn't get gay-boy-protection after I started dating this girl very publically in like 12th grade. :/

But really.

I find there is a direct relationship between the things I say, how upset someone gets, and how close to the truth they are. And if there isn't..

For example, if I call a homosexual "faggy mcfagpants" in a bar, he probably isn't going to care. He's gay, why should he? He might even say something snappy back like "So what, are you gonna bend down and give full service with that complement *arm waive gay thing*."

Alot of tightwads post here. According to what I hear from others, not admins even, only a minority of the people here are actually offended. Which seems about right, because squeeky wheels get more oil. Bet it's pissing you off JG isn't holding your wang and following you with an oil can, huh?

*Only* twice? LOL, that explains everything right there. God I would pay good money to see one of those.

It doesn't matter how many times some neanderthaw beats someone up. Does that prove they are better?

It shows you have no idea how to fly under the radar. Your big yap got you into trouble. It totally makes sense that someone beat the crap out of you for going too far saying something. If it were possible, I would reach through my monitor and give you a nice uppercut.

Way to miss the point, bucko. I'm not justifying or condeming any action, just saying that the reaction isn't warranted; as in they shouldn't put so much effort/thought into it.

I don't care about flying under the radar. Thats lame. I'd tell Hitler I thought some jews were pretty sexy if I had the chance. Even if he was going to shoot me in the face.

LOL, ROBERT IS THE INTERNET TOUGH GUY I THOUGHT!

No you wouldn't. The first quote more than proves how afraid of confrontation you are. I mean how many people got banned just for talking about how attractive your mother is? You think they meant any of it? It was just internet. I for one thought it was hilarious.

You are a total ******* who deserves to get shot. One of these days, you're going to piss off someone who's packing heat.

P.S. you better check the logic section of your brain because you got it backwards. The person doesn't care if you call them a *** if they're heterosexual. If you call a homosexual a *** then yes, they will care.

I don't go around doing that, it was an example.

I don't care what sex anyone else is attracted to (Unless it's a hot lesbian, that **** KILLS!), what color their skin is, or what religion they practice. Or about a million other ways you could classify people.

I treat everyone I meet the same way, with what I feel is honesty. If you don't like it, stick your fingers in your ears and go "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH." There are a million more people like me. It'd be hard to imagine that there wouldn't be. 6 billion people, and you're over there acting like I'm some sort of special occurance.

None of us are unique or beautiful snow flakes and life is waaaaay too short to bull**** around the point.

That is exactly my main point.

You act all tough on the internet but the things you say to piss people off you would never say to their face in real life. You act very differently on the internet than you do in real life. That's my point.

Didn't you just threaten to uppercut me?

On Internet?
2007-09-10, 9:51 PM #63
I act consistently whether I'm on the internet or in real life. I feel like punching you on the internet and if you actually said this stuff to me in real life I would definitely get pissed off enough to hit you.

Do you maybe, I dunno, see the irony?

I don't care what you do in your personal life. Want to come beat me up? Thats awesome. It doesn't mean your mother didn't used to be totally hot. It doesn't mean you're the bigger man. It doesn't mean you're right.

It means you're a tightwad. And you take your short, insignificant life WAAAAY too seriously.

But you accused me of being incosistent. Because I'm an "internet tough guy."

Then you told me you were going to uppercut me. And we all know you wouldn't. I think you've consistently proven how unable you are to deal with confrontation of any kind that isn't on internet. You probably wouldn't know what to say to me in person.

It is slightly ironic.

I'm pretty sure he's posted other writing on here, or I've seen it on internet.

And as I recall, it wasn't exactly going to win any highschool contests like Sajn's free verse poems about SOAD did.

Thankfully I found them just in time before someone else did.

I was a little to my next class because of it but in community college, most professors don't care if you're late by 2 or so minutes so it was no big deal :)

People still pay attention to what Rob posts and still have to say "OMG ROB R MEAN"? Oh Internets.

As for stealing, it's pretty much one part of the fundamental nature of being an ***. Not-so-worthless people can overcome it. Slick masterminds use it when it is definitely needed.

That said, I once stole a small blue toy car from a supermarket. Only one who found out was my sister and she used that to blackmail some ice cream from me. Damn! :argh:
