You're the only person that thinks Doom 3 looks like crap, and the only valid argument you cite "an octagonal flying head" was made how many years ago? Yecti even said it's since been fixed. And if you mean it looks like plastic because it has an advanced lighting engine, and the metal reflects light, and the slime on the monsters reflect light, then hey, hate good graphics.

After forking out $100 to pre-order Doom 3, I just have to say one thing. Please don't let this game suck.

Most games that get released here in Australia are around the $100 mark. So yeah, it's no joke.

Two other reviews have showed up, one gives the game a 94. The other gives it a 96, and makes the rather bold claim that it's the best FPS ever.

The best FPS has a Meh storyline? People need to stop judging games on graphics. Focus on things like fun factor and storyline. I'm sure it's fun, but BEST FPS EVER sounds a bit....like a ...lie?

Will there actually be an in-depth storyline or just a regular "storyline" that we usually get from id software?
Believe it or not, there will actually be an in-depth story line. Id has hired writer Matt Castelo to come up with an intriguing and suspenseful storyline to go along with the terrifying gameplay. His previous works include writing for such games as the 7th Guest and The 11th Hour.</font>

Yeah Yoshi, talk about ignorance.. like your post on whopissedyouoff.com WOW, that was stupid...

Someone said earlier on another thread that Doom 3 was the same as Dooms story line...

And well...we all know it kind of sucked, so I didn't expect much from this..I belive the person who said D3 = D1 storyline was none other then DJ YOSHI. So don't yell at me, yell at the source..the one who gives the info..and Doom 3's "proper lighting" isnt why It hink it looks like POOP mister "YOur opinion is wrong" It's because they went NUTS on the bumpmapping and everything looks shiney and plastic.

1) Bring up another post on another forum that has NOTHING TO DO WITH this. Yeah that's intelligence. I even said myself it was a rant, and it was my OPINION. Right.

2) I was mistaken in my information--it's not like I can say "oops I messed up" because barely anyone would listen or remember. Besides, if you knew the storyline, it basically IS the same. It's just portrayed a lot differently.

3) "OMG BUMPMAPPING CAUSES SHININESS" Yeah uh...no. It's not bumpmapping, it's the lack of light diffusion, which basically is saying that the models are flat and the lighting acts like it would on any flat surface. Get your facts straight.

In Farcry, everything that was bummapped looked shiney and plastic, some peoples skin some walls etc. In Doom 3 EVERYTHING LOOKS SHINEY AND PLASTIC. It gets real annoying.

Pretty much, but FarCry had less bumpmapping. It wasn't that obvious, but sometimes, like looking at a rusty wall..and noticing the rust is shiney and plastic like :P

They could have made it more high poly. I mean some small thing that really bother me. Like even in FarCry and older games, things are more rounded. Some of the enemies in Doom3, and even your hands on the gun are just to blocky. It seems a lot of detail is on the head, then the body just looks bleh to me.
(Not on EVERYTHING, just on some things)

It is, but the story is developed through NPCs, the player's PDA thingy and communication with your Sgt. It't told similarly to the HL story

The average character poly count in Doom 3 is 3000-5000. Where you get low poly from, I dont know. I guess they could add more, but your 9600XT might not be up to the task [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]
