If it's official, can anyone post an official link. The last official word I've read is that the SEs would be the only version released. I'm looking at the Star Wars site but it looks like a damn comic book now.

Well, after wading through the Star Wars site I can tell that this is not official information. The DVD trailer (available to hyperspace members or here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00003CXCT/ref=ase_mysimon-sr-buyvideo/103-5675224-5413411?v=glance&s=dvd ) do not show the segments in question. The prolific forum at the Star Wars site has no resolution to the matter. Nobody that knows has confirmed or denied these changes in an official, verifiable manner.

Personally I have a feeling that things such as the matting in Empire Strikes Back that I had assumed they would have fixed in the SE since it was the most glaring flaw will be corrected. Things such as that, that don't actually change the content of the film and will go mostly unnoticed as changes I think have a good chance of being changed. Second to that, it would not surprise me if the Emperor replacement in ESB is true. That is the most glaring inconsistency between not only the film that followed it but the three prequels. Beyond that I feel any changes are unlikely. Hayden at the end of RotJ would be horrible, I believe unlikely, and if it is done I will not buy the DVDs as it seems to me to be the final spit in the face to fans of the original trilogy. I would think he (Lucas) would have learned from Han shooting second.

TimeWolfOfThePast, those Jabba/Han ones are obviously fake. In the second set of photos (the darker ones) you can tell Han was pushed together, his face is flatter than compared to the original set.

How can you possibly say that Jabba scene is fake? It's the same exact shot, just touched up. The reason it's squished like that is probably because it was taken at a different resolution than the other, and the person who took the screencap resized it to be the same size as the comparison shot.

And I stand bye my belief that the Jabba scene is fake. I know the Special Edition had one, but that one looks compressed.

Another thing to keep in mind is this rips that have been found on the web are most likely not finalized versions. They also were most likely not JUST ripped, just beta versions and tests, which is why some of the sabers still look like crap.
