So im guessing the Levels and stuff are on a seperate HDD then?

No...

Anyway, webservers don't need a ridiculous amount of CPU power, unless they're hosting a massive-scale website (Massassi is not one of them).

We have 6GB of regular file downloads (everything on files.massassi.net). And 1.5GB of "regular" massassi html/php pages/images/etc.

Alright then, I just find it odd that the school server has 16 gigs and a quad core.

Because it probably does a lot more. CM's server, I'm assuming, is mostly just a web server. They don't really require that heavy resources. You're schools server might be a domain controller, running exchange, or some other large applications.

Personally, I'm a bit worried as to the effects that will have on my own hosted sites on your server, Matty. I am hoping I wont see my service slowed down, aye? :3

You won't even notice Massassi is hosted, to be honest. If it was going to affect my hosting, I wouldn't have taken Massassi.

Massassi really doesn't take THAT MUCH CPU/RAM/bandwidth.

Alrighty, sounds good. 6-7GB of files sounded like a hefty load, is all :)

He could buy a new hard drive to hold twice that much for $10.

2007-10-18, 1:36 PM #54
Massassi is on a pretty ancient server as it is, and it doesn't use up a significant fraction of cpu/memory. CM's server is quite a bit faster (and probably maintained better, too).
2007-10-18, 1:40 PM #55
So, has the move already been made?
2007-10-18, 1:42 PM #56
No, he's waiting for me to d/l a bunch of files before transferring the dns. Speaking of files, Aglar, you have like 6GB of mail in your account on the server, can I delete it? It's probably just spam anyway :)
2007-10-18, 1:46 PM #57
Dude its all the chinese turkey porn I've been sending him over the years, you cannot possibly wish to delete the chinese turkey porn?! D:

Ok, here is the *real* list of undownloaded mail we have on the server. This will be POOF gone when the server move is complete, so if you need something LET ME KNOW right away so it doesn't get deleted when the current server goes dark in a week or so.
Code:
2.8G ./dsettahr
293M ./aglar
252K ./jedigandalf
413M ./coolmatty
390M ./dash_rendar
611M ./ghostofyoda
1.3G ./jw_thewookiee
660M ./mbeggar
587M ./naythn
562M ./osiris
604M ./skimpy

I haven't been able to access my email for months anyway. KILL IT WITH FIRE.
2007-10-18, 1:57 PM #60
Geez, I completely forgot about my Massassi email account a few years ago. Yeah, it's probably just all spam. I assume even if somebody sent me a level submission or something (rather than sending it to the proper address) they would have re-sent it when they noticed it wasn't posted. I can check through it if you want, but I'll need the mail server information and such.

I don't think that's necessary.

He still uses Apache 1.3. When he tried to upgrade to 2.x branch stuff broke. D:

The only reason I asked him to do that though was because mod_rewrite for 2.x is less strict in its regex (mine weren't working in 1.3, until I figured out what it didn't like).

You can cd ./jedigandalf ; rm -f * if you wish. Nothing is important in there.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

cd ./jedigandalf ; rm -rf * more likely. Unless there are no directories.

But you're doing it in Vista! Which means it fails, or UAC blocks you, or something!

Obviously. Because I'M STILL HERE. :downs:

Real database programmers use Oracle.

Well, at least you're not using MySQL.
