Car accidents are :awesome:

Especially when they're the result of rampant douchebagism, and only the douchebags get hurt.

As far as I overheard. The driver of this car was aggressively manuevering in and out of traffic (May have been tying to street race), clipped someone's back end, and then went up over the curb into a parked straight truck. I didn't see any other cars, so I think this was the only one really involved.

Cheer up dude, atleast your dubs didn't get scratched!

Also, the driver didn't appear to be that hurt, if the driver was who I thought it was. (Not the guy in the picture)

The coppers wouldn't let me take a picture from the other side.

But the truck was mostly un-hurt. The bumper was bent in, but thats about all I noticed.

People who order a couch from Macy's and it has a scheduled delivery date TWO MONTHS HENCE could benefit from a 2-month couch rental.

If you are only in country for a few months for schooling or a temporary job assignment, it is cheaper to rent furniture than buy new furniture or transport it from your home country. In Maryland, this makes especially much sense. Incredible numbers of graduate students and foreign representatives come here for temporary purposes.

I hate it when people assume that people "think they are awesome" when they are weaving in and out of traffic.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

There will always be accidents. Even if you screen drivers. Your absurd statement cannot be backed up.

Bonus: I thought you were Mr. libertarian freedom dude. You want to lessen our freedom to drive? Cognitive dissonance much?

Mystico, driving involves people encased in huge, heavy metal objects zooming towards and around each other, often from 50 - 70 mph. A lot of people drive. People are fallible. People are especially fallible when encased in big metal objects zooming towards each other at high speeds. The result is a car accident, no matter who owns the roads.

Not really because as sugarless said, ownership by itself has no impact on accident rates.

so, sugarless, the monopolist shouldn't concern itself with liability or striving to increase saftey to lower insurrance premiums to lower cost? Does the government even concern itself with liability?
Liability is between the individuals involved in the crash, not the owner of the road. Fail.

Two people are driving on a straight road. One person gets distracted and swerves and hits the car next to it. Is it the driver's fault, or does the blame go wot the owner of the road? If you said the latter, there's a massive issue with your reasoning. No matter who owns the roads, as long as people are driving, there are going to be a lot of accidents.

Your Disneyland example makes no sense, because if a ride goes wrong there, it's not the fault of the children riding it, they're just sitting in their seats and they can't do a damn thing about it. The company makes the rides completely automated. The only transportation example that fits the analogy would be something like public transport, because the people using it are not in control of the vehicle. Going with that analogy, if two metro trains crashed into each other, you bet the government would hear about it.

Okay, you own a road. How do you stop people from crashing on it?

Hahaha. In your Market Anarchy dreamland, I wouldn't do business with you because you suck. All those damn restrictions.. I'd do business with someone who wasn't so freedom-killing and anal.

'course what I've never understood is how the **** can you keep people from using your road if it goes to an important place? That's why we have a central, unified transportation system. People don't want to negotiate with 17 road owners just to get to work, Mystic. That's stupid.

so with your system, depending on who owns that specific road, the qualifications for who may drive on it will change. So I could get halfway to work, but another company owns the other half of the roads on the trip there. SO I can get halfway to work and I have no way of going any farther. Taking a trip anywhere would require hours of research because you would need to look up the qualifications for every road you may drive on and anywhere you may stop to eat.

How about we regulate who can eat. People choke on food. Some people make really bad food that makes you choke. So 16 year olds are not allowed to eat because they are more likely to talk while eating, and that increases their risk of choking. And it's the maker of the food's fault for the 16 year old talking while eating and choking.

Or maybe it's the maker of the lunch table. A girl choked while eating at your table, so it obviously has to be your fault. Lunch table premiums go up as people start to choke at the table. Soon you have regulations on who can sit where to eat.
