That's what it was like for me too - although my laptop was pretty old. :smith:

I use Foobar because anything else lags the hell out of my entire system.

Same version. Scrolling, along with everything else, is just as responsive as it would be in any other program (so zero delay between the time I do something and the time it does it). And this is in a library that's well over 3000 songs (14 gig or so) on my laptop (AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-50, 1 gig Ram).

I completely understand that some people will see horrible performance out of iTunes for whatever reason, computers being computers. But in my experience across at least 10 or more computers with varying specs, I've never had problems with it.

Maybe I'm just lucky?

I never said it was. I was just stating the size of my library and the specs of my laptop in case it was relevant in some form.

First, I really do like iTunes. In terms of library management, I love it. However, I do hear the cries of some people about lag and scrolling speed. I have about 7,000 songs or so, and it's slow. Definitely usable, but slow.

I tried Foobar2000 a while ago, and liked it, but I could never get it configured the way I want (not saying it was impossible, but I just was unable to do it).

I just tried WMP11 last night, and that's going to become my main player now. For my system at least, it uses a lot less resources, integrates pretty well with Media Center, and it's really responsive for me.

(For the record, I have a Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM).
