I want to be able to do the code effect that you see in the titles. Instead of giving it a try I want a little direction. Any one care to give me a few leads, suggestions, ideas, tutorials?

Remember, the code HAS TO BE ANIMATED. And eventually turn into a title of sort.

Originality is a point of view. You also have no idea what I have in mind, whats more, this is not the issue.

I did google it up, but all I found were how to make a very crappy matrix code effect, thats was terribly blurred out, and not animated. (which I could probably already do without a tutorial, but right now I need some direction).

Then you did a poor job. Look harder. The results you seek aren't always spoon fed to you on the first page.

If you actually knew how to program this sort of thing would be utterly trivial by the way. Which is why there are no tutorials offering the information you're looking for, because everyone else already knows how to do it.

The sad thing is I don't think it'd be possible to recreate the effect without a lot of graphics tomfoolery even though the movie portrayed it as just a normal console.

You could pull it off in after effects in less than an hour. With very minimal knowledge of the program.

You could also pull it off quite easily in Flash or Director without much knowledge of the scripting languages in either program. Hell, you probably don't need to program it at all, you could just do it all on the timeline / score.

SF_Gold's idea of originality is using someone elses models, animations, and work basing it around star wars or the matrix and calling it his own.

A matrix fan film or homage is a cool idea, mainly because every single matrix fan film I´ve ever seen was incredibly cheap and sucked. But I´m out to have fun, not revolutionize fan films.

I had thought about a lot of ways to do the matrix effect long before come here, but most of them were over laborious and not worth the time, unless I would get payed for it, a thing that I won´t of course.

My idea of originality is taking the elements of a universe, such as matrix or star wars, and make a story with it. In my Spanish class we once had this assignment which I loved. It consisted in writing a short story using another as reference. I wrote a short 10 page story about some elves from Lothlorien. I did it as best as I could since I don´t know LOTR all that well.

I know I am 4 years late to start any matrix fan film or anything, but I´m not leading the idea. I´ll post in a couple of weeks the entire series of awesome astounding events that inspired my friends and ultimately me to start this small project, in which I had nothing to do with starting it.

If you´re not interested in a fan film or the idea, then I suggest you ignore this thread and continue as if it had never existed, but if you can contribute and help out by occasionaly pointing me and my friends in the right direction, atleast I myself would be very thankful.

BACK ON TOPIC:

I´ve been looking into a lot of those tutorials, and while they are great, I think I´ll try making a small application that can vertically scroll random columns of matrix characters from a font file or a bmp, the first ones leaving a bit of a particle trail to make it look as if they are glowing (maybe its my eyes but I can almost swear they glow and leave some sort of trail behind). Then I´ll figure out a way to record this and do some basic editing.

This is much easier than my original idea which consisted in making a whole lot of transparent layers with the text, and glowing, adding a black background and then making the frames by hand by moving their vertical position frame by frame, and saving them off as bitmaps and finally joining them in an .avi.

These are both probably incredibly long ways to do it, but I got no deadline and its a hobby. I just could use some inspiration.

BrianL: This thread is leading directly into sf_goldg_01 ripping someone else off again because the "application" he described himself as making sounds suspiciously like a prebuilt tutorial sample I've seen recently and I know for a fact that he does not know how to make an "application" anyway.

Furthermore, this is not the only forum sf_goldg_01 attention whores himself on. He crossposts threads verbatim. Nothing he has ever posted has had anything more than a passing connection to any purpose this site has ever had. The only reason he has any interest in posting here is because he posts on every forum that won't ban him.

Finally, if you had done your job when you owned this site you would have banned sf_goldg_01 the first time he claimed ownership over art that he did not make. Nobody in this community wants him around but you and the other administrators chose and continue to choose to allow him to remain on this forum to the constant aggrivation of everybody who posts here. If you actually read the forums once in a while you'd understand why we're treating him poorly.

I have never ever been baned but a couple times here, and I petitioned it. I have never ever recieved warnings either, except here. I have never been permabanned from any board. I haven´t ripped anything off from anyone since the jedi starfighter thing (which for some reason kirby thinks is a naboo star fighter). I apologized many times for it, and you do a great job of bringing it up every time you got a chance, which should be considered harrasment.

If you got nothing better to say, then don´t post in reply to my threads. In fact I don´t want to ever see another one of your posts again in my threads. I want you to put me on ignore and act as if I don´t exist. Do you have the maturity to do this or must?



Fortunately, there is enough people who want me here to keep me here. Which means:

c) What is the purpose to this site anymore? JK Editing is mostly dead, sure we get the occasional mod or sp level etc, but its not done anywhere near as much as before. Star Wars fans? Star Wars is so rarely discussed on these boards, I have a hard time remembering what the main theme is. What massassi has become is a social forum, where some members think they can own the community, which is not theirs, but collectively belongs to all members that give this place life.
