Stonehenge?
2007-11-12, 8:38 PM #1
I have an assignment due Wednesday, its basically to go up in front of the class and talk about Stonehenge.

You are allowed to take videos or power point presentations and these are shown to the class via a projector thats hooked up to a laptop.

I want to make a 3d fly through animation so I can show it to the class. I don't think I can have a recognizable Stonehenge done by tomorrow, so I was going to ask if any one would be kind enough to make the animation, or point to me a free 3d model that I can use.

Thanks in advance.

(I tried google, I couldn't any 3d model that topped my crappy model or that was in any format that I knew)

P.S. .3ds, .blend, .dxf, .lwo are the formats I can use.

i foresee epic lulz from this thread.

but if you want to skip the trip to unnecessary-land, you can find plenty of hi-res pics instead.

I assume you will be giving credit to the original author of the work?

...it's your school project and your grade. Stop being lazy and do your own work.

Actually it wouldn't be that hard for someone who knew how to use a decent moddeling program.

Of course, the original author should put credits on it or a logo in a corner or some visible sign that he made it. The video shouldn't be fancy or anything. Perhaps a skybox and quick terrain generated in L3DT then imported to the modeling application. The camera just needs to fly around and through the archaeological remains.

Edit: Perhaps the author could put some graffiti on a pillar or something.

Holy stat, are you kidding me?

I think SF_Gold has been someone's alt, and they've been screwing with us for years. You're seriously going to make a thread asking other people to make all of the elements to your superfluous fly-by so your technically stupid class thinks you're awe inspiring?

Give me a flirbing break.

Well I'd suggest you definitely don't need something like that, and you probably wouldn't have any way of showing it to the entire class in a convenient matter anyway.

What I would suggest doing is taking a unique spin on stonehenge. My favorite theory is that stonehenge is actually a shrine to fertility, and the stones were originally placed in such a way that they would crudely resemble a 3D vulva. Try discussing this at length. You're sure to get an A+.

Well I'm not lazy, I just don't think my Stonehenge would be anywhere near as good as anything you people might already have, here's my 5 min untextured wip, and everything I done after this seems to utterly suck even more:

Just as an FYI, the next flame gets a ban. Leave him alone. If you want to graciously help him (though I agree he should do the work for his own school project) then do so. Otherwise, don't post, or at least be helpful in some way.

I probably would but I don't have enough time for it.

Any how, I know its not the best Stonehenge or its not even worth noticing, but it gets the point across, still I got a few more things to do to it:

You could just make the model a JK level and use the fly code. Fly around a bit, fraps it, take it on a cd, hook to projector in class, and show it off.

but you'll need some seriously hi res textures.

You're probably better off with pictures.

(this thread made me lol)

I don't even know where my JK cd are anymore, probably buried in a deep abandoned box.

I'm going to bed, post the finished product tomorrow.

Your Stonehenge looks like an elevated monorail.

I was going to say you should spice up your presentation by blaring druidic rock and having a tiny Stonehenge model trodden upon by midgets

But then I realized that movie probably hasn't come out in Mexico yet

I made a claymation (actually it was plasticine) video of the construction of stonehenge when I was at school. It took an afternoon and it wasn't particularly good but it got me a good mark.

I need a model of New York City, including the suburbs, and a camera to fly through the whole thing.

I need it in 30 minutes.

You will not get any credit at all for your work.

Oh yeah, I want realistic textures, and on the building windows, I want people looking out. And the people can't look the same. No repeats.

Thanks.

Actually, I guess I should have said I need a detailed model of the entire earth, including all cities, and a camera fly-through. That would have been funnier.
