Your favorite moments of 2007

The new year is close. Let's reminisce:
- I'm 18, hooked up with a 27 year old brazilian girl in Ireland
- Successfully completing my first semester of university with a 3.8
- Whilst in America, for my birthday my friends threw an 18 keg party at my house where I woke up next to a girl I've never seen, accompanied by 8 people on the floor and 2 people passed out in the front lawn. My friend was arrested at whataburger for passing out while ordering his food. (Too heavy for my friends to carry him).
- Backpacking Europe! If you've been thinking about it, do it. I bought a plane ticket 2 days before I left, no planning. It's remarkable the things you will learn about places, languages, cultures, and people in general. Go alone if you are adventurous. *If you are from Texas, use this to your advantage* (Dont have to go by other peoples' plans)
- Won a city-wide guitar competition (only the first stage of it :gonk: )

It took me a good 10 minutes to think of my top exploits. How was your 2007?

Finally graduated from Finnhighschool, didn't get into the University so I spent most of the rest of the year sitting around here watching porn. Quite a so-and-so year.

First girlfriend. First kiss, first etc etc etc.
First breakup.
First rebound.
>__>

I had a good year. I learned a lot and had a good time for about 8 months of it.

Dang. Sounds like a crazy year, drizzt!

- I moved out on my own, have my own apartment.
- Got drunk for my first time. But not stupid drunk. Just enough to loosen up and have fun.
- The last few months I had with my ex were really special. Damn, I miss that.
- My first Anime convention was awesome!

Let's see, here are some lame ones:
- New laptop
- None of my PCs had Windows installed on them, just Linux.
- Got over 1000 posts on Massassi this year... :(

FGR you're a legend.

my favourites:

1: Every 1st tuesday and friday of every month. Rock clubs. Drinking, dancing to Pendulum, trying to grope Tinas/Natalies chest, :tfti:

2: overcoming depression within 3 weeks of increasing medicine and doing some soul searching.

3: losing my ethics/values and sleeping around. :ninja:

4: Wrapping a used condom around the door handles of Marks n Spencers after leaving Quake Nightclub :master: , and the subsequent giggle fit i suffered for 45 minutes walking home with friends :downswords:

5: Seeing Tor (my ex) at a club once i decided to stop blanking her, and feeling not quite so lonely for an hour.

6: Threatening some people with a knife after i found them having a threesome in my bed during my houseparty, when i warned everyone i didnt want it happening. They ran out of the house screaming, havent seen them since :D

Yep, not a bad ol year really :)

sorted out the problem with my shoulder, enabling me to start rock climbing regularly. then stopped rock climbing and now the problem is coming back, gotta get back to that.

had a pretty amazing summer, with festivals and camping galore

finally had some more cognitive behavioural therapy, enabling me to:
hand in my notice at my mind-numbingly dull temp job, and immediately get a much better one
start taking driving lessons again - have now passed my theory and am on the way to being qualified in a couple of months
start looking at the possibility of dating/sex again, though I don't think I'm quite there yet...

The month of Febuary...

Got my Air Assault Wings... Got waivered promotion to E-4 Specialist (5 moths before I would get it regularly. Got my Expert Infantry Man Badge. Went Snowboarding my first time. Life was good.

Feb 27... got a DUI 1 week before my 21st bday :(. I hit a curb and a lady called police... Really changed everything for me that day. Had to go to jail which was suprisingly not much different from most of the living conditions I have had in the military.

Cost alot.

So now I am in Iraq (my 3rd month of 15 month tour). Really 2007 sucked... It could have been great but I really messed it up. I guess I have been depressed and do my best to hide it but o well I guess.

My 1 month of leave in July was a blast back home. I had multiple keggers and a great time with all my friends. Unfortunately I really didn't pay attention to my gf at the time (of like 4 years) I just wanted to party and not have drama so that ended up ruining that.

So now I am single, banking in Iraq...and I taking college courses. Trying to stay productive.

I didn't have to many favorite moments... but o well.
2007-12-28, 6:56 AM #14
- Graduated with a decent GPA
- Got a (real) job
- Went backpacking through Germany

Other than that, 99% of my time was used concentrating on the first 2 things. I'm hoping that this next year will be a bit more eventful...

The year started off pretty well. I played a couple of frisbee tournaments and got two job offers.

Then I accepted one of the job offers and moved to hell (London).
- Rent is ridiculous, my money went further when I didn't have any.
- Employment is less fulfilling than unemployment, I made much more productive use of my time when I didn't have a job.
- Life post-university sucks, I hate that I can't ditch whatever I'm supposed to be doing in an afternoon and play frisbee or guitar instead.
- All the things I was good at before starting my job I'm no longer good at.

- Sister's graduation; along with my past senior friends as a freshman
- Realized I made a huge mistake taking AP Chemistry and understanding Fishstickz's reason why I'm a Failure.
- Realizing how great/easy Freshman year of high school was
- Started to read more books, rather than hating them (and found a really great book thanks to Kirb)
- Did worse, academically, than other years, but I guess that's on behalf of me not caring much about school
- Had a good summer for once

Yeah, I'd say this was better than 2006, but not that great.
Back again
2007-12-28, 8:51 AM #19
- Graduated
- Moved
- Learned that it's very difficult to make friends as a commuter student
- Made it through the first semester of stupidly hard engineering courses
- Got even more depressed

-???

-profit?
2007-12-28, 10:08 AM #20
- Started out unemployed and practically kicked off my course thanks to my own idiocy during 2005 and 2006.
- Scored highly on re-assessment exams and assured myself a place back on my course starting in September.
- Got another job without any hassle
- Met a pretty girl; still seeing her :)
- Hiked lots of mountains, did more training and started leading newbies on scrambles.
- Worked and saved money
- Went travelling around Europe with said pretty girl. Mainly wandered eastern Europe on the cheap, camping and roughing it. Best thing I'd done in a long time.
-Skinny dipping in Croatia :neckbeard:
- Went mountain biking in cool places, kayaked a bit, slacklined, went climbing more often, got fit and trim.

2007 has rocked

Graduated from Mizzou and haven't looked back
Got a job as a database software engineer
Found out a friend I'd known since middle school was a vampiric attention whore
Indirectly played matchmaker between my roommate and a good friend from high school
Lost 22 pounds in a month and a half

A decent year, all-around.

Finished college (technically Dec. 2006 but I walked in May).
Got a job with school.
Spent two months unemployed.
Got this job.
First speeding ticket.
First broken bone (finger).
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

graduated from college a couple weeks ago after 6 and a half years.

Yeah, that's about it.

In chronological order:
- Turned 21.
- Studied abroad in Denmark.

- Decided I wanted to go to law school.
- Got paid $1500 for a four-day drug trial.
- First apartment.
- Scored well on the LSAT.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

-Lots of great parties and bar adventures. My liver hates me, but I had a *lot* of fun (that I can't remember very well) this year.
-Attending DEF CON for the first time (and finally going to Vegas when I'm not too young to do anything)
-Buying my first car
-Got my G license (in Ontario your first full-fledged is called the G2, you have five years to get your G or you have to start all over again. I waited about four years and eleven months)
-Working my *** off and getting the marks I needed in two very important classes

-This last one I have mixed feelings on. My girlfriend and I broke up (we had been going out 3.5 years) two weeks ago, which obviously sucked. In a way it's a relief though, because we had vastly different religious views and I was worried about what kind of problems we would have in the future. I've also discovered that even though we broke up I'm still here and doing alright, which I count as a good thing.
2007-12-28, 12:55 PM #26
finally found a girlfriend who isn't socially unstable. :argh:
DO NOT WANT.
2007-12-28, 1:04 PM #27
Had to drop out of my dream school in exchange for a spe school that I could sleep through and get As.

Lost my dream girl for apparently no reason.

Lost my mobility and health due to inactivity and extreme pain.

Haven't been able to drive because of a clerical error, and won't be able to for another half a year.

I could go on. My year has simply sucked.

-sort of made out with my best friend's boyfriend - while she was sitting right next to me encouraging me (then she yelled at him for not using tongue. needless to say, alcohol was involved)
-Arranged 2 fantastic songs for my a cappella group and performed them
-became music director for said a cappella group and helped to turn us into a group I'm incredibly proud of while shocking the hell out of an overconfident group that knew us before
-music directed a show - but I'm not exactly proud of that one
-tutored

Been an eventful year. I don't know - a lot of good stuff has happened this year, but it has been the most emotionally draining year I can remember.

- saw my little boy come to Daddy when he got hurt instead of going to Mommy

- my neighbors 14 cats have finally left since they agreed to stop feeding them
- my yard has significantly less cat poop in it (see above)

I'm sure there's more important things, but I can't think of them right now.

Got my first year of fire under my belt. That's pretty much the only eventful thing that's happened to me this year. Everything else is just kind of blah. Except for that girl from Chile.

Yeah I went to boot camp last August man.

And yeah. They were blown away by the most hilarious things. Standing in formation was alien to them, and the ladies went wild from just a "right face". And when they figured out that we were Marines they were all in awe, and then we told them we were infantry and they were confused because they thought we were sailors, being called "Marines".

But yeah man, a high percentage of fine ladies with automatic weaponry. I was very satisfied :D
