What are some thoughts on using the Headset? I have one, but really have not used it because it seemed like a gimmick that really couldn't be terribly useful. Of course, I could be wrong...

Being able to coordinate with your team is not a gimmick. When using Xbox Live, use your headset.

NOT using the headset is a gimmick. I can't stand it when people don't have headsets. They're invaluable.

Headsets in TF2 are like your right arm. Sure, you can play without it, but it's a helluvalot easier to play with it. More fun too.

Playing without a headset isolates you (especially on Live). It's basically saying you don't want to be a team player, and in a game that relies completely on teamwork, that's probably not the best way to go.

I don't wear mine when I'm playing any kind of FFA game (like Halo 3 Rumble Pit or Lone Wolves), because in those games it's only used for 15 year old trash talk. In team based games, though, it's pretty much necessary.

Yeah, my mic recently broke, and I'm effectively crippled because of it. I'm quite a fast typer, so I can do fine without it, but on more than one occasion a spy has ruined our forces because I wasn't able to call out spy.
