I think apple are on the right track here in regards to size, I know a lot of people who's first complaint about their laptop is its size and they already have reasonably small laptops to start with.
Being on the right track and having the finished article are two totally different things. I personally wouldn't be worried about its toughness, it is an aluminum shell as the MBP is, so it will probably be a lot stiffer and more durable than it looks.
Price though is over the top, for what they are charging it really needs the flash hd as standard. If that was the case, it'd be a good sell. I am remembering here though that flash hd's of that size are around $1000 or so to buy by themselves anyway...so maybe it isn't that bad in the grand scheme of apple pricing....
And I personally don't give a damn that it doesn't have a disc drive, hardly use mine as it is. 1 USB port...uumm, well, I'm only using one at the moment for another mouse, I have a NAS hooked upto my network where I store all my music, video's etc. Also, you gotta think what market this is aimed at, it is clearly not a desktop replacement, it's a light, highly portable laptop for people to use when on conference or moving around places, you shouldn't be storing large files on it or have to plug in more than 1 or 2 usb things, an external drive here and there maybe.
I like it, but beens I've only got a 1 year old MBP I would never buy one and personally I find the MBP portable enough.
People of our generation should not be subjected to mornings.
