Hotel Rwanda, definitely.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

I was going to put that, but it had a good ending.

Of the movies I've seen recently....Atonement.

Overall...any movie with the animal as the lead character. I cannot get through Paulie without crying my eyes out. I never made it through Milo and Otis...same with The Land Before Time.

As you may have guessed, I'm kind of pathetic when it comes to animals being hurt/being left behind/looking dejected/etc. I almost didn't make it through I Am Legend. >_>

For me it would have to be one of two Scrubs episodes that were so depressing to me that I almost considered not watching the show anymore.
My Road to Nowhere: Where JD is lied to by his long-distance-girlfriend who breaks up with him telling him that she lost the child (when she didn't).
or
My Hard Labor: Where JD and Kim split for the second time, right as their child is being born.

Admittedly, these episodes affected me more than they did anyone else I know because of the fact that I was dumped by the woman carrying my child a few years ago.

Spider.

It was an odd mix between depressing and disturbing.

I know there have been a few, but the only one that sticks out right now is Requiem for a Dream. Blow also left me feeling really crappy.

I'd have to go with The Green Mile, Johnny Got His Gun, and They Shoot Horses, Don't They.

3:10 to Yuma (2007)

"Just remember, it's your old man that hauled Ben Wade to that station... when nobody else would."

And the scene at the end when Ben Wade shoots Charlie Prince and the gang. Poor Charlie.

There are only a few minutes of non-depressing material, if that. The good ending does make it inspiring, but the other 98% of the movie is very depressing. If it was about a guy that starts in a crappy situation and gradually works his way out, I would definitely agree with you. But it's more about a guy who was already up to his knees in ****, then sank a few more feet, had a glimmer of hope, sank even deeper, was just about to drown, and then got some help.

I can't really think of many movies off the top of my head other than Schindler's List. That movie has always been sad to watch, not exactly the kind of movie you'd want to watch for entertainment.

I cannot watch the end of that movie without breaking down esp. now that my grandfathers (both servicemen) died. :smith:
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Movie had very sad moments but, again, this is not a movie I walked away from depressed. More a feeling of reverence.

Fry's dog, but Bender's Big Score made it not so sad anymore since Fry's dog only missed Fry while he was on the whaling ship and that was only a couple years.

"The World at War" docu series. I'm not sure if it was broadcast in the US. The Britsassians should recognise it. Each episode is an hour of harrowing interviews and footage of people killing and exterminating each other etc during WW2. The end credits have the perfect music while in the background the faces of the relevant people involved are shown and burn away to show another. Face after dead face as the credits roll. :(
