If you don't pay rent it counts as an income, so if you live with your parents and don't pay a fixed rent you should claim yourself.

I ended up paying Kansas a whopping 1 grand (as opposed to the $345 that had been withheld). I get 2 grand from the feds and Missouri, though.

I'm now filed with 0 allowances on my W4 in Kansas.
