Trading my 360 for a Wii
2008-02-01, 1:45 AM #41
The Xbox 360 has way more actual good games than the Wii, that's excluding the Wii's myriad of boring minigame collections. Also, here in Finland the two systems cost almost the same now so there's really no justification for getting a Wii instead of a 360 unless you're really into first-party Nintendo games, which admittedly tend to be top notch.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Just for the record, I also have a wii and a 360 and we play the 360 all the time and the wii mostly collects dust (son plays sonic something or other every once in a while).

Also, why do you bother buying the bundles, do you really need all that crap? I'd rather have another game than the accessories they pack in.

(It was the best I could come up with, I'm losing my touch. PS, this will get taken the wrong way because no one has a sense of humor)

You're not losing your touch rob, I laughed for a minute solid at least.

The Wiis basically just an updated Gamecube anyway, only it comes with a gimmicky controller. Even then the gimmick doesn't last that long.
nope.

I love how everyone was all OMG WII IS SO INNOVATIVE AND TEH BESTEST and now you all are ITS GIMMICKY WITH NO GOOD GAMES. Nintendo was preparing to move to the casual gamer market from the get-go on the Wii (thanks in part to dropping popularity with the N64 and Gamecube). I mean, honestly, what is it with you guys? Don't get me wrong -- I think with the relative success of the Wii, they should do everything in their power to capitalize on what it can offer instead of "the same old mini-games" most people seem to complain about (nevermind the fact that it's only been out here in the U.S. for just a little over a YEAR -- do you expect these people to publish a game on the Wii from concept to finished product that quickly?) WE WANT QUALITY GAMES THAT MAKE THE VIDEO GAME MEDIUM RESPECTABLE and WE WANT INSTANT GRATIFICATION just can't happen at the same time.

With that said, I've been playing Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 since Christmas, though admittedly not as much as I'd like because I moved the Wii to the basement where it's freakin' COLD (but on a very nice 52" widescreen high-def. TV). I'm biased, though, because I could never quite get used to the Xbox 360 controller with stuff like Gears of War or Halo.

I was going to applaud your post Geb, but there was no mention of Smash Bros.

Haha, oh yeah, and Smash Bros. ftw. I'm glad that the singleplayer parts of that game seems to have gotten some serious loving (Subspace Emissary) , so none of this "oh it's only another multiplayer game" junk.

Terrible idea. I have both and the Wii just sits there.

In my defense I never really had an opinion on the wii to begin with, nor any of the other consoles. :P
nope.

Wii has Killer 7 and No More Heroes... And alot of weirder but fun games. Its not just party games.

It should NEVER have tried running Call of Duty 3 though... some of the end bits were soo laggy it was silly.

And Battallion Wars 2.

Yet since Link to the Past I've never finished a Zelda game... whats with that?.

Dude I still think wii is innovative and cool.

It just needs some good games.

The Wii remote is a fantastic piece of hardware, nobody is denying that. The lack of third party developers is what's really killing the system.
2008-02-01, 2:05 PM #53
I don't think it's the lack, it's just that alot of developers are LAZY.

I remember reading that many big developers are planning games for the Wii. Let's hope something becomes out of it and most of them aren't shoddy ports with different controls.
