No, the correct analogue would be if I gave everybody portable jetpacks, wrist grapple hooks and high-powered rapid recharge blasters. The technology Boba Fett uses is commonplace, right down to his suit which the stormtrooper armor was originally based on. The same things preventing you from being a bounty hunter today would prevent you from being a bounty hunter in the future. Er. Future-past. Past-future. Whatever.

In reality I'd probably be a slicer, although I imagine cryptography would be so advanced in the Star Wars universe that I'd probably starve to death for lack of work.

That's assuming Star Wars cryptography is also based on the factorization of large integers. There are other asymmetrical algorithms.
