I'm still looking forward to the 360 version, but am I understanding this correctly? They made the Duel mode exclusive to the one console that hates online multiplayer?

How can anyone still complain that the force powers are overpowered? Have you suddenly forgotten the original trailer? We've known for a while now. That's kind of the point here.

I just noticed the release date... When did it get pushed back from spring to November?

I never had much of a problem with the force powers, it's just...looking at the trailers, the game seriously looks like it blows. I mean, look at it. The animations are worse than GTA :v:

JA was'nt great true (except for 2 handed full lightning)

JO Was the first real "I almost feel jedi like bit" slightly spoiled by the sodding Nar Shaddaa with sniper rifles bit.

Kotor was better, but the lack of different attacks made the saber'ing a bit boring. Ditto for Kotor 2.

We've never had a truly definitive jedi game. The secret apprentice is meant to have powers that are truly out of proportion, what we dont know yet is why.

All will be revealed.

Well that video makes it look cool at least. But every time I see them fly into the air to do the force surge all I can think of is Advent Rising, which makes me cringe.

Considering you're a Dark Jedi, this makes some sense. But really, the prequels have ruined Sith/Dark Jedi, in general. The EU painted a wise group of individuals with insight into the dangerous side of the force. Less prime evil, more dangerous bed partner. I for once want to see a Sith characterized as a (Quack, I can't believe I'm doing this) Snape type character. Careful, wise, and a realistic depiction of evil.

I'm sick of ultimate blow stuff up evil. That's stupid and never works.

I have waited a long time for this moment, my little green friend.

I enjoyed JA, and this looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Hopefully by the time it's released I'll have a console I can play it on.

I also don't care if it doesn't "feel" like Star Wars. If it has lightsabers and the force and is fun to play then I couldn't care less.

You and Jim are looking at it the wrong way. Obi isn't saying that the overpowered force aspect doesn't fit what the nature of the title is, he's saying that ridiculously overpowered force usage isn't good/fun/whatever in its own right, or doesn't fit the nature of Star Wars, or whatevss.
2008-04-08, 1:44 PM #51
Yeah right.

Read some of the later EU books Luke is in.

He unleashes unstoppable bad assery like every 12 seconds.

Excessive overpowered force use fits in with starwars fine, it's the games that have made it seem like it might suck.

I'm glad the force powers are more strong.. should provide some very fun gameplay.. can't wait

More importantly, overpowered force powers also means that Stormtrooper TK-421947829343812093271 stationed to the absolute *** end of the universe might not be as able to kill veteran/elite Jedi/Sith/Commando in this game compared to the others.

I'm pretty sure Stormtroopers have been saber/blaster sponges in ALL the Star Wars games.

I sure they atleast built up the game so you get better force powers as you go. Giving you super killing powers right off the bat would be the worst game design idea ever. That's why most games these days don't hand you the deadliest weapon until later.

Stormtroopers are supposed to be elite. In the prequels they are depicted as highly efficient troopers and killing machines. In the OT they're fine up until RotJ where they are bumbling idiots that fall at the hands of Ewoks.

A squad of stormtroopers should be able to take out all but very skilled Jedi.

I still want an Imperial Commando game.
Ever since the mission in Rebel Assault 2, where you dress up as a Stormtrooper. And even more after playing Republic Commando.

According to one of the vids, there is also a love story in this game. Haha, thank you Georgie Boy for not knowing what gamers want.

Har har for JDKock boy for not knowing that gamers have ranted about and asked exactly for love stories in many games.

No, I personally don't care for them, but there is often a lot of complaints on game forums about this sort of stupid carp.

Love story is okay, but not for the hardened, warrior type character they have going. It totally doesn't fit. If he turns light side at some point it might come out okay. But since it isn't BioWare doing the love story (KotOR's was great) I'm thinking it's gonna bomb.

Since when do force powers = dragon ball z? Why do we need all these colorful shaders to tell us that we are using the force? It looks retarded.

Since force destruction.

Well, it is a video game. They try to make it feel a little more dynamic and active. Not necessarily with success mind you.

However, personally I do think it would feel extremely boring to have no special effects whatsoever when using the force. The utility would still be there, in often cases the impact, but it could get pretty boring to look at.

Maybe instead of directional magic-type effects, they could do something more like Max Payne where there's audio cues (Vader choke sounding stuff) and the color subtly washes out

Th-that's what I would do

You seem to not understand that "The Force" is a bit more than just TKing objects around ala Force Push and lame assed wildly flying lightning out of your hands. It's almost literally anime style energy manipulation. There was one Jedi/Sith/whatever who literally launched destructive balls of energy out of his hands and could fly, I can't remember his name right now I think came back from the dead and possessed some random Jedi then went and blew up a few stars with the Suncrusher.

Its possible he's a freak. I mean its totally possible for someone who can feel the force at some point to be able to use it to insane amounts.
