I had kept the cut clean for the weekend and saw my doctor on Monday. Had it cleaned, glued and stitched. They did a good job closing it up, because there is only a slightly visible scar. I can feel it when I close my hand, but it doesn't restrict my movement.

Seriously though, I do empathise with you, Shintock. I've dealt with mildly crazy girls, which absolutely pales in comparison, but it's rough going. I don't drink, but I would sit down for a beer with you.

That's odd. What's the name of the SNRI? As far as I remember, Serotonin and Norepinephrine aren't directly correlated with drunkenness, but I could be wrong. I thought it was all GABA/Dopamine :confused:

It's Effexor. It's a side effect remember, not an intentional effect, I'm not sure how exactly such an effect comes up, but oh believe me, it does. Remember that such drugs work indirectly, since you can't just add neurotransmitter's to a system.

It doesn't add anything, it Inhibits the Reuptake of certain Serotonin and Norepinephrine transmitters. Serotonin doesn't fit into GABA though, in fact GABA transmitters are quite unique. I'm just curious how it works.

Ahh, apparently alcohol increases the CYP2D6 enzyme production in the liver, which is the main enzyme responsible for metabolizing Venlafaxine. Also, I'd be careful taking high doses of cough syrup, or any opiates. Could be dangerous, as there are people with a disorder on the CYP2D6 enzyme which makes them unable to "feel" most opiates, where the enzyme is not produced. Increased production/usage and/or taking of these drugs in conjuction with something else also acting on the enzyme could cause problems. Also be careful with benadryl.

Enough drug nerdery though.

My old roommate was on Effexor. It helped a lot with her anxiety, despression and stress, but made her pretty much unable to drink or do any drugs with the rest of us. It also made her feel pretty cracked out by the end of the day.

Yeah, the effects tend to vary widely among individuals. When it does work, it works amazingly well. My dad was on it and it did nothing other that make him extremely tired for most of the day. Me on the other hand, it's like, perfect.

SNRI's are fickle, at best. Be lucky you don't have to take MAOI's though, the diets are insanely restrictive.

Also, you can do drugs on SNRI's, but you have to be fairly careful. Serotonin syndrome's a very real threat at that point.

There aren't any. Unfortunately it's all theoretical and guesswork, along with some very limited experiences. But I do know people who have gone so far as taking ecstasy on it (an extreme Serotonin and Norepinephrine agonist) and have been fine. There's always the chance with this type of thing that you'll get Serotonin Syndrome if you mix drugs, though.
