The news that came out before the update made them sound impossible. The achievement requirements that were actually released are not impossible.

The achievements released were the same as were announced.

They're just easier than they seem.

On TF2? Do you ever even play?

Everytime I hop on a server I can get a team effort going no problem.

I'm talking about achievementbox_3. Everything is set up to do all of the achievements if everyone's working together. Problem is that people come in and just kill everyone. One day while playing a regular game, someone asked me how I got my ubersaw, and I told them in achievementbox_3, so we made a server and we spent all day getting everybody's achievements. It was actually really fun, because it's amazing to see 25 people all working towards the same goal on a videogame. Almost unheard of, really. I'd tell everyone to go blue scout, and it just happens.

And the achievements aren't likely. Half of them requires the other team to be stupid. Any self respecting spy doesn't ask for heal.

I always figured "hey, it'll be more rewarding if I can get 'em through my own sweat, blood and giblets strewn across the landscape".

That being said, the hardest one I've probably got so far is Intern. Most depend on either having a good Überbuddy or having Steam friends, neither of which I have.

Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Well, I wasn't looking at it as a reward. I was looking at it in a "I need these to be a better medic." As medic is my primary class, I probably wouldn't have been so adamant were it the Heavy.

Then again, I am an obsessive compulsive, and will dream about having unlocked things all night long, and think about it when I'm not playing the game. I am an absolute completionist. It's terrible when I'm playing a bad game, like Jericho, but I HAVE to finish it, and unlock everything, and find all of the hidden whatsits. I'm a wreck.

You suck at spy then, because one of the best ways to blend in is to go get damaged, go engi, then run in screaming medic. Then you stab the medic in the back and take out the equipment.

Trust me, most of them are luck, or skill, not the other team being stupid.

Not really. If anything, these achievements HURT the regular TF2 gameplay, especially in the first weeks. It was a bad idea of Valve to release just one class-specific achievement pack and, if that's not bad enough, tie them to new weapons. It was nothing but a medic clusterf**k when the pack came out, and it often dragged the fun down when medics just stood around in the back trying not to get killed. It's much better these days since people realized, gasp, that an easier and less-headache inducing way of getting the new items was to just go to an achievement server and simply ask for them.

I agree that some of these achievements are really awkward and what is being asked seem rather stupid. Why, in regular gameplay, would you bother ubering a scout? Seems like a waste of an uber except for sh*ts and giggles. The one with the heal-gun-them-before-they-die-of-fall-damage is quite hard to pull even intentionally, so I can't fathom how you can come across that one. Blast assist, where an Ubered soldier has to kill 5 plays, is quite difficult to do unless the rocket launcher starts to CRITICAL HIT, and the 20 kills from a heavy being healed involves ALOT of camping. So you have to "plan ahead" for certain ones instead of "coming across them"... which many people did by just staying in spawn talking about how to do achievements for the entire game.

As for the new medic weapons, why would you NOT want to equip the Bloodsucker and the Ubersaw? I can understand contemplating whether or not to have the Kritzreig, but the tradeoffs for the other two items aren't really worth contemplating. Especially for the Ubersaw, which does do good damage anyway without CRITICAL HITS.

Jedikirby is the reason games with stats and awards sucks. Because he's that guy that goes to the corner of a map with 12 other guys and they all stab each other in the head for the UBER KNIFE ACHIEVMENTZ instead of playing.

I agree with Yoshi on the spy-comment.

I haven't got any medic achievements myself because I don't really play medic, I'm not good at it.

I got the heal before death one the other day on accident. If you have a competent demo/soldier you're healing, then it'll probably happening if you're trying to charge your uber.

They're not really as hard to get as you think...

Blutslager doesn't crit, ubersaw doesn't crit. Critical hits can be a dealbreaker for a medic--and I've killed heavies getting healed by shooting about 20 crits to the face with my medigun.

We go to a different server.

And yeah, I constantly switch between the weapons depending on the feel of the map. Sometimes the ubersaw is more useful if I'm doing lots of healing with good heavies. I'll rush in ahead of the team, kill a few stragglers, then come back to my heavy and uber him. The bloodsucker is pretty much all I use, but sometimes if I'm really going in battle-medic, and I'm confident in my ability to not get hit, I'll switch back to the normal gun, since the crits are REALLY useful, as Yoshi said. The addition of more medpacks makes it possible to not use the bloodsucker. I'm amazed I ever captured the intel on 2fort without the medpack around the corner. The crit doesn't do much for me unless it's on the new map with the cart.

But CRITICAL HITS are based on chance (and turned off in few servers). The +3 health is always on. Not to mention the +25% per hit toward Ubercharge from the ubersaw just utterly pushes aside the need for CRITICAL HITS. Plus, sometimes you want your target to survive a bit longer so you can grab another 25 percent before the victim dies from being sawed. Hell, if you and another medic teams up with Ubersaws and Ubers, you can do something like this (if you play your cards right):

Crits are based on the way you're playing, not just chance. If you get a lot of kills, or have been alive for a long time and are in enemy territory, crits are more likely.

Well, evidently, you can still get CRITICAL HITS from the Ubersaw. The only real drawback is it's slower to use, which it's really much.

Oh yeah thats totally different, and cheating in this way because you're too lazy to play the game is TOTALLY justified.

I kind of really hope Valve datamines and removes all the achievements from the players that have stats padded.

No, crits are based on how you play and how aggressive you are. That's why attack medics are so dangerous.

Also the ubersaw doesn't crit.

The Blutslager is all about survivability. Medics with that weapon usually give me a lot more trouble than they're worth, so I back off from them.

Dude, I don't even play either game anymore.

I just think it's stupid to CHEAT TO GET ACHIEVEMENTS, and then cry later about it screwing your stats.

But it's still based on chance to a degree. It may "turn on" often but you don't know exactly when. Even when dealing damage, the possibility of CRITICAL HITTING is up to 20%. Which is not bad, but in the world of grenades, rockets and SGs, it matters.

And the Ubersaw does crit:

I've seen rockets do as much as 60-80% crits. Grenades usually is about 10-15%.

And I've never seen the ubersaw crit. Odd. I just don't want to use it because I'm seriously deadly and can time bone(or pwn)saw hits almost perfectly.

Wouldn't timing the Ubersaw be to your advantage? 25 percent bonus toward Uber is not something to be overlooked, and the 20 percent "slowdown" is hardly an obstacle if you aren't the type of person who hopelessly throw your saw around in the air trying to hit things.

Ubersaw > Bonesaw. Even the Ubersaw taunt is better.
