The creature creator is nowhere near as powerful as I thought it'd be. How come they have to be symmetrical, too? :(

I just got done making a bunch of creatures, and I love it! I can't wait until Spore comes out, so I can throw these special-place-in-MY-heart creatures into some artificial world that they can live in. (and eventually dominate)

On one hand I agree, but there's two things to remember:

1) The incredible technology that goes behind animating the limitless creatures you can make.

2) It's only the demo, which has 25% of the functionality of the full version.

So far the only thing that irritates me is you can't really change the shape of the body besides the spine and girth. For example, it's impossible to create a crocodile because you can't make something wide that's short like one.

Members of porifera (sponges) and flatfish (they start out symmetrical and grow so that one eye migrates to the other side of the face so they can lie on their sides on the sea bottom).

....more minor examples that don't really effect the overall body plan are snail shells, the beaks of crossbills etc.

It has 25% of the PARTS. It has 100% of the functionality, unless I'm missing something.

That's because for the most part, animal life on earth is symmetrical. But that's just Earth. In fact, assuming life evolves/evolved seperately in other parts of the universe, it's highly unlikely that those creatures would resemble life on Earth in ANY respect, let alone symmetry.

Pretty much everything you can create in Spore is Earth life. With funky colors.

ill have to wait for the full game to come out before i make any real declarations of love for this game, but i had a blast making this. :)

haha yeah, just found that about 5 min ago. use the mouse to "throw" the galaxy in the background of the intro screen into a spin, and you'll see will wright's head enlarge in the center of the galaxy
