it wasn't a thread about that at all, actually. it was my sad emo thread. i just happened to mention along the way that my gf and i shared an interest in astrology. and the moment i said it, i had like 4 people jump down my throat about how they didn't like astology and didn't believe in it, yatta yatta.
i spent the rest of the thread trying to defend my beliefs against people who are determined not to take anything i say seriously, accusing me of being a hippy and whatnot (and to be honest, i dont really care for hippys, or anybody who doesn't apretiate the value of having a job).
i dont know why its such a red-button topic around here, but i cant even mention it without a mob of angry inquisitors trying to convince me im wrong. i never started a thread, or even a conversation about it, i just get swept up in a tide of people intent on disproving it for whatever reason.
honestly, i dont care if people agree with me or not, i just dont see why THEY have such a hard time letting me be who i am, and believe what i want. frankly, i dont see why its so hard for people to consider astrology possible.
consider this:
scientists have proven that magnetic fields can interfere with the human mind when they are strong enough. they disrupt the normal flow of electricity through our brains, causing us to think and feel differently with no clear idea of WHY we think/feel that way (assuming we didn't know the field was there).
they have also proven that every mineral and substance on the planet emits its own tiny energy field unique to it, based on the type and quantity of the atoms in it. the more of something you have, the stronger its field is and larger.
most things are too small to really have any effect on us, but think about energy transformers, and how living near them has been known to increase cases of insomnia or depression, making people restless or unsettled. obviously this is special in that the item is charged with constant electricity, making it much more potent, but the fields emitted by other less potent materials are the same thing, just on a much smaller scale. there both created by kinetic energy (because theres at least a tiny bit of it in EVERYTHING) and they both interact with (and therefore influence) the fields/objects around them.
so if a simple transformer can influence a person/object, when it is only just so big, then why is a planet, whos gravitational pull is felt even beyond the immense distance of our solar system, and is far larger than anything we have ever laid eyes upon here on earth, considered to be any different?
every planet has a unique composition of materials and energy, in massive amounts compared to our own bodies, giving every planet its own unique way of affecting things. with all of these planets constantly shifting distances from us, and each other, constantly changing the plethora of energy waves that bombards our planet every minute, is it really so hard to think that this immense cosmic influence could effect our thoughts or feelings more than the tiny electronic devices and magnets around us?
im not saying that to beleive in astrology you also have to beleive in Valhalla, the cycles of Woden, or participate in a sabbat, and im DEFINATELY not saying that you should go out and buy you a $2 horoscope guide to predict the future, pretty much all mass published horoscopes are total bull****. im just saying that scientists know damned well that the constant push and pull of our solar neighbors influences our planet, so it shouldn't seem so far fetched that it would affect us to, being as were ON the damn thing. afterall.. if you smash two cars together when theres people inside of them the bumpers arent the only things that feel the impact.
EDIT: sorry about the long post guys, this is, afterall, what i told you i tend to do
