I was listening to Megaman music on youtube and realized what wonderful music that game (the first one) had. Here's a good example.

Then there's the obvious Final Fantasy 3/6 which has to be Nobuo Uematsu's best work, at least when it comes to the Final Fantasy series.

Ps. the music discussion forum is dead apart from stickies.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

This made me think of The Advantage, a video game cover band--they've got some cool Megaman renditions. Megaman 2: Flashman

Much of the stuff from the Metal Gear Solid series is great. MGS3 is the only soundtrack I've ever bought.

Hrm. Cave Story springs to mind, along with most of the Final Fantasies, Doom, Unreal Tournament, Pokémon Red and Blue, Halo, Command and Conquer...

Top of the list is all of Diablo series, Devil May Cry, Half-Life II, and Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale.

YOUTUBE VIDEO OVERFLOW INCOMING

Earthbound/Mother series. There aren't enough words to show my love for this music. Bleeps and bloops that could both rock and bring you to tears. The ending credits are a good example of this. It starts with a Runaway 5 (a band in the game) medley, then leads into my favorite Earthbound song, "Smiles and Tears".




"The Battle of Final Destiny" starts out as standard bleeps and bloops, then turns to straight out rock.




And the Japanese Ronald version for good measure. Watch if you want nightmares.

Oh, I'm totally adding oblivion and bioshock, too. There are moments in oblivion where I just stop and listen to the music.

oh, Aladdin! I'm also listening to Green Hill Zone now, and it makes me miss the game a lot. I seem to recall some other sega game with really good music.
