what was the first movie you remember seeing in the theater

Anything past like High School, my memory is horrible. Scattered memories.. but I think the earliest I can remember was from when I was 7 or 8 .. The Mask. I'm sure I saw the typical Disney movies that little kids do, so whatever were the big hits before then were probably the first I saw.

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure the first think I saw was at a now-nonexistant-theater called The Ritz, and it was a documentary about some archeologists findings that led them to believe they found Noah's Ark. No idea what the name of it was, though.

After that, it was probably some Disney flick (Dumbo?) or Star Wars. I did see Star Wars at a drive-in too.

The earliest I can remember is The Little Mermaid. Wikipedia says it came out in November of 1989, and I think I remember it being for my birthday which would have been January 1990, making me five.

In fact I think that was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw.

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm starting to lean towards Hook (peter pan / robin williams) as my first theater movie.

The first movie I remember seeing in theaters was a double feature.

First was Honey I shrunk the Kids and right after that they plated Ghostbusters 2.

Unfortunately, I think it was 3 Ninjas (though I am sure I thought it was cool at the time).

Hard to recall, but I think it was called "City Lights" or some such. It was when it first came out, I know it wasn't a re-release when I saw it.

That movie came out in 1931.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Hmmm, that might be my earliest. I can't remember if I saw it in theatres or if it was rented, though.

The earliest I'm absolutely sure I can remember seeing in theaters is Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest, but that was a few years later than The Land Before Time.

Aye, I remember seeing it too. I doubt it was the first, but it was definitely the last.
