Boosting internet speeds?

also are you using vista or xp? 2gb with vista is sorta minimum you want to play games like AoC and War with.

I have 4Gb with a 9600GT and E2180@3Ghz and STALKER still hitches up (like in the youtube video)...

The same thing happens on my brother's system, which is a lot slower (3600 @ 2.3x, 2Gb, 7800GT). Runs beautifully...but hiccups frequently. If you can tell me how to fix it, I'd be thrilled! :D
woot!

It really just looks like as you're walking the game is hiccuping because it's loading new data from the world. It didn't really look it hiccuped when you walked the direction your character came from, as that data would of already been loaded.

I know in Warcraft back in the day when I had a crappy computer I could fix such problem by reducing the draw distance (or WoW called it, "terrain distance"). There any options similar to that in AoC or WH:O?

Also, see if any of your friends has any extra RAM you could slap in your PC to test out.

There is an option for draw distance, but I've tried minimum setting versus max with no difference.

Hmm...

I still say more RAM might fix it, but I don't really know if that's the problem now or not. Might be like turning up the radio in your car to fix that engine ticking noise.

Edit : I just realised something. I have a x1900xt 512mb card.

Is there even such thing as BIGGER than 512mb card? If so, could it really be mainstreamed to the point where the majority of people would have those and thus not have a problem?

Could it be the fact that its my HHD's that are running in Raid 0 that be is causing the problem?

ATI 4870s at least go up to 2GB :p

That would be the 2x model I think.

As for STALKER, it's because the game aggressively loads resources while you roam the landscape.

Try -noprefetch and see if that helps.

I usually get stuttering issues after about 2-3 hours of play on both WoW or WAR, and I have a decent system (3.25 gb ram, intel q6600, 8800gt). I don't know what the exact error is called, but usually a restart of the game will fix it. All the other people in my guild seem to be having the same issue as well.
