So I finally got a 360...

It such a short game, but for 13 bucks its a good deal.

I got the Colonies Edition, or whatever it is. It's got more content than the original release.
Pissed Off?
2008-11-07, 7:47 PM #42
They have that for 19...
More content? Good because the original was pretty slim...

Should I get this or the Gears 1?

And my Halo 3 copy has a scratch...It won't load the level after the flood comes (After the cutscreen where Arbiter kills Truth or whoever)
Some other gametags that are on the Xbox have later levels..so I can play on .. but I do miss some stuff :(

I would try to get money back from the person, but for some reason they never recieved my money from paypal... so they got screwed. So if they get that resolved I'll make them give me some money back, but I don't feel right complaining when they didn't get any money. My money is gone, I'll let them deal with paypal.

Hmm, Lost Planet or Gears?

If you have someone to play with, I suggest Gears. It's a must have for Xbox users.

Though I've never played LP, but I loved Gears. I say, if you're going to play Gears 2, you have to get Gears 1 first. It might not be incredibly detailed in story, but it definitely sets you up for Gears 2, and ultimately, is a great Co-op game and will keep you and your buddy up and going all night. :D

Just rent Gears 1, you can beat it in 2-3 sittings easily.

If you can get it for 20$, then do it. It's definitely playable more than once, so long as you have your friends around :)

playabel more than once when you have gears of war 2 anyways?

I don't think anyone will argue that you should play gears 1 when you have gears 2 and you know the plot from gears 1.

I'm going to get a 360 at Gamestop today. They have a nice deal: by taking my PS2 and five of its games to them, I get a 360 Arcade (with HDMI, a wireless controller, some arcade games and one normal game) for under 40€.

Edit: well geez, they were out of them!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
2008-11-08, 6:09 AM #49
That's not too bad of a deal if you got 5 really worthless games :)
2008-11-08, 9:26 AM #50
The Aprentice is wooping my *** in SC4.
He is such a spaz my character always ends ups up getting stuck attacking in the wrong direction. And that damn force attack too.

This thread is a really good sales pitch for the 360. Before this thread, I would've said "There's no games on the 360 that I couldn't already get on the PC, and enjoy." This thread proves that very wrong. If MGS4 comes out on 360, I'm pretty much sold.

Can you plug a 360 into a Dell monitor? If so, I'm VERY sold and will probably get one during the holidays.

They have a VGA adapter cable which works wonderfully (including the unusual 16:10 resolutions that PC monitors use nowadays), and if you get one with an HDMI port, you can use a DVI adapter with that.
2008-11-08, 10:45 AM #53
Yeah, I've got an HDMI port on mine. Will it show in high def, then?

if your monitor accepts the resolutions...

with the hdmi-dvi setup you have fewer options for resolution (480i/p 720p 1080i/p)

VGA cable opens up a few more options

640 x 480
848 x 480
1024 x 768
1280 x 720
1280 x 768
1280 x 1024
1360 x 768
1920 x 1080

it's missing some of the common 16:10 monitor resolutions though... and it's missing the 1366x768 resolution that most 720p TVs actually use

i seriously recommend the official VGA cable if you go that direction... i've tried a couple third party cables and they both performed poorly with my monitor... one caused ghosting (though on a friend's HDTV's VGA input no such problem occured) the other caused worse ghosting and freaky vertical lines of weirdness (untested on any other display)

the dash update coming on the 19th includes support for 16:10 resolutions. And i second getting the official ms adapter if you go vga.

I just spent 15 minutes trying to get a game tag that was not taken (The active live account that game with my xbox is really lame) only to figure out I need 800 points.
Weak!
And ranked SC people are crazy! Full blue health.. I thought I was cool having a couple rank A modifiers.
2008-11-08, 4:12 PM #57
yes it costs $10 to change your gamertag... and it sucks how many gamertags are taken even on xbox 1 accounts that haven't been active in years the gamertags are still reserved

800 points = 10 bucks? I guess I'll be keeping SuperSoakerZ69 ;) (wtf haha)
I gave up taking a normal name and resorted to something like nameleftisnone or sommething like that.

Some jerkoff took Squirrel King
2008-11-08, 4:47 PM #59
yeah MS points are 80 points = $1

400=$5

20=25cents

one thing i like better about playstation store over xbox live is things are priced in real money not points

I always thought the reason why Nintendo and Microsoft use this annoying points system was to disillude people thinking that there is monetary value in their user account.

actually the real reason for points is supposedly to minimize the number of small credit card transactions and the fees from them...

2008-11-10, 5:16 PM #62
Yes, but MS is deceptive. Nintendo's points at least correspond with actual cash value amounts: 2000 nintendo points = $20.00, etc.
2008-11-10, 5:42 PM #63
Yea....
America is screwed up like that. We should adapt the metric system but we instead do things the hard way.
2008-11-11, 5:16 AM #64
I have Gears 1 if anyone wants to throw a reasonable offer at me. I hate the game. It's just not as good as everyone said it was.

A good cheap game for X360 is Assassin's Creed. I think you can get it for $30 used from Gamestop.

The apprentice is a pain in the *** to beat in SC4. But once you do, he's damn fun to play with. Adding force users to the game was a pretty stupid move IMO, but they are damn fun to play with. Just not against.
DO NOT WANT.

SC4 is pissing me off.
But it's sooo fun I keep on playing. And then get pissed off again.

But on side note, what the hell is with the clipping in this game? On the predefined winner/looser animations, a ton of characters have clipping issues. Usually big breasts or huge biceps are the cause of this. Was it laziness, a commitment too having huge breasts in the game even if it looks really cheesy when the characters swords are moving through them, or what?

edit - now he's easy. It just took a while to get used to his spazzyness.

My Gears of War 2 came last night, can't wait to play it!!! argh

The animations don't adapt to the equipment of the character, they were built to work with the original player 1 configuration and that was it. Whether it's lazy or not I'm not sure, but I would guess it would be a lot of work to implement dynamic animations to keep clipping from occuring.
2008-11-11, 11:57 AM #71
Yea, but it's on 1P or 2P characters. Not custom characters with custom equipment.

Just a minor thing, but it just made me wonder how something so simple to fix got in the final version.
2008-11-12, 5:01 AM #72
Splinter Cell: Double Agent was pretty wild... should be pretty cheap, too. Also, if you like tinkering and mech-style games, Chrome Hounds has some potential for you.

But now they had them again and I got mine, yay. I also got NHL 09 because it was only 20 euros.

I don't have a high-def TV yet, though.

Kroko did you see the deal xbox has going on right now for arcade owners? if you go to their website and put in your consol info (like serial #) you get a refurb 20 gig HDD and 3 months Xbox live for $29.99

That's rather spiffing. My only real gripe with my 360 is that I can't just plug in any old external HDD to expand my savey-goodness. The 20GB drive I bought with the system (the best I could buy at the time!!) is tooooo small.
2008-11-14, 12:03 AM #79
I'm getting a 360 tomorrow. Yay! 360 + 20gb harddrive + wireless controller (with charge kit) + 10 games (pretty good ones too) for 200 bucks. Can't beat it.

Good buy mate. If you get your live set up and fancy some action, just check the list for my username thingy.
