I voted for Obama, but my decision was recent. I initially favored McCain and consequently I'm still a member of some pro-McCain facebook groups. I chuckled at the following conversation on a groups' wall:

A: "In the polling lines, a friend of mine witnessed a group of kids at my college flipping coins to determine who they would vote for. Why vote at all if you're going to leave it to chance? I think that is crazy"

B: "If they vote for Obama, they won't be voting next election because they won't have any coins left to flip..."

A: "Good point. He says he wants change."

That sounds like something from a Mallard Fillmore cartoon.

If I had photoshop and not just mspaint on this computer I'd make this a reality.

Voted via absentee ballot. It really upsets me that analysts can call an election based on the outcomes of only three or four states. Websites read, "Even if you live in the West, it's still worth voting!" If certain states are already "sold," why even bother? :P

because those polls assume the same low voter turnouts that they always get. (face it, your country has some of the worst voter turnouts of any democratic nation)

Riiiiight...

Quote:
After decades of trailing turnout in the United Kingdom, U.S. turnout in 2004 was on a par with recent British elections, in which turnout was 59.4 percent in 2001 and 61.4 percent in 2005.

Furthermore 32 countries have compulsory voting.

Please provide examples. I would be interested to also know how frequently these constituencies are called to vote (e.g. every five years, two years, etc.)

My dad wrote in Mickey Mouse for all the unopposed local politicians.

I ended up voting and wrote in Ron Paul.
