I'm sorry. But these mother****ers should be killed. I'm sorry, but what this baby was put through was literal hell and these people deserve nothing less. Read this story and then tell me you think otherwise. :(

The worst part?

Quote:
Social workers and doctors had seen many of his bruises and other injuries and raised suspicions that he was being abused. Police even arrested his mother twice but decided there was too little evidence to prosecute.

This seriously pisses me off. My family and myself have worked for CAS (childrens aid society in canada) and taken in children around the age of this baby to look after. These people are complete morons when it comes to judging care of children, this is only one more example of it. I'm sorry, but this really pisses me off... How can this not be heartbreaking. Those officers and childrens aid workers should be punished too for neglect. I really don't understand how it's possible you can see a baby, bruised to ****, and think it's nothing and allow his parents to take care of him. What...The...****...
2008-11-12, 1:26 PM #2
It's the parents of the parents that bother me.

Quote:
About one of the suspects... "Relatives described how as a child he had tortured guinea pigs and particularly frogs, which he would skin alive before breaking their legs."

What kind of ****ed up childhood do you have to have to do things like that..

And noooobody saw it coming.

If you read on, you'll see that there were several hospital visits the baby had, several times the mother was arrested under "suspicion of abuse" yet the child was given back to her under all these occasions.. and after 60 children's aid worker visits as well.

That's a little bit ****ing ridiculous. How stupid can people get... There is absolutely NO excuse for letting that woman have her child back after all that evidence.. And then they actually say there isn't enough evidence to charge her? WTF...

I saw this on the news yesterday, and it still makes my blood boil. It's just so infuriating and sickening that it's hard for me to really talk about it.
2008-11-12, 1:40 PM #5
My god, words cannot express how tragic that story is. Just...it boggles the mind to think how cruel humans can be. Both of those people deserve to rot in jail for the rest of the lives.

Pretty much the same way I feel. I know it's not exactly "right" or proper to feel this way... But in all honesty if I seen those two I would probably try to skin them alive myself. How can you do this to someone else.. Let alone, a ****ing baby.

they need the nature of their crimes leaked to the rest of the prisoners that way "the rest of their lives" won't be much longer but at the same time the rest of their lives is a hell that would make hell look like a welcome change of pace
eat right, exercise, die anyway

Tragic story yes, but seriously the daily mail isn't worth reading.

Anyway, it's not our legal system at fault, it's the broken social services that's ****ed up here.
2008-11-12, 2:52 PM #15
There are plenty of other places to find articles about this crime if you truly despise dailymail.co.uk. I linked the google earlier...

Actually, it's both. The police (law) and the childrens aid (civil) both failed in their responsibilities. Even the health care side failed.. How can doctors look at a bruised baby, determine that it was very consistent with injuries given to the baby from someone else, then return the baby to that parent/person they suspect. ESPECIALLY given her already accrued record for abuse or suspected abuse of the child. It absolutely dumbfounds me.

Argue all you want. Every side of the system failed here. And the result was this baby being put through nothing but hell.

One more thing that gets under my skin... In the most likely scenario, these two will not be put with the general population. They will be put into isolation from the rest of the prisoners, where their only dangers would come from the prison guard's, or themselves. IF these two were put into general population, they would no doubt be literally torn apart by the other inmates. IMO.
2008-11-12, 2:54 PM #16
How do people get so wrong? I hope they never get out of jail. And yes, tell all the other prisoners what they did so they can have a taste of their own medicine.

And in this case, they SHOULD be put in with the other prisoners. They don't need TIME to think about what they did, they need PAIN.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Why should we spend extra money to keep them safe?
2008-11-12, 3:13 PM #20
I think Vin meant in the event that they are put into general population, that is what should happen to them. Not that they should be put into general pop.
2008-11-12, 3:27 PM #21
And yet, if she had killed the baby three months before he was born, you'd all be fine with it.

Also, about putting them in general pop : The man would probably enjoy it.
2008-11-12, 3:37 PM #22
You really shouldn't assume that we would all be fine with it if she did that JM. I'm fairly certain not every single person that posts here is pro-abortion.

Also, you can't argue abortion against torture. They put this kid through HELL. I really don't see how you can possibly compare this to getting an abortion.

The man might enjoy some things that would be done to him, but I am fairly certain that the inmates would make sure they did something he did NOT enjoy.
2008-11-12, 3:38 PM #23
...You're actually comparing abortion to the brutalising of an infant? For ****s sake, man.
2008-11-12, 3:42 PM #24
I can't access the article now because my mobile device doesn't have enough memory, which is why I ask the following question. Has the couple been convicted yet?

I'm just smacking it in the face before someone comes along and says the kid would be better off if he'd been aborted.

Wow he looks like someone I know.. CREEPY.

And .. WOW. We should bring back the death sentence.

As I suspected, they have not been convicted yet. I wish articles like this would be held until post-conviction.

The story is clearly pretty ****ing awful, but I don't get too disheartened by this sort of thing when I consider that humanity isn't any noticeably more evil than it was thousands of years ago. Current events always seem infinitely more atrocious than past events, but this sort of **** has been happening for a long time and will probably happen well into the future. Maybe that's one of the reasons I don't have an urge to skin the culprits alive or think death sentences have any particularly useful value.

This is very true, I use this exact argument when people say that society seems so violent nowadays (usually against older people that think thugs and gangs - run the world). Society was violent 10,000 BC, the 1500's, and still is to this day. It won't change.

But the fact remains... THIS sort of thing should NEVER happen. And that remains the main point.

No it shouldn't, but it seems unlikely that having the death penalty will deter crimes from being committed, and aside from this, the death penalty's only benefit is the gratification of a vindicative bloodlust which could probably be ameliorated in healthier ways.

Not to say the bloodlust is a bad thing, but acting it out isn't necessarily desirable.

No you did not...
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I haven't enough information or knowledge to say whether the death penalty will deter crimes or not, but it certainly seems as if it doesn't work in the states that it has been legal in the past.

I know it's unhealthy to feel this sort of blood lust, but it's hard to not feel this way over something so atrocious. Ever since I read this story it's been the main thing on my mind. I am usually not affected this deeply by a murder, even though they are always horrible acts. This one, for some reason, affected me in a much harder manner than anything I've read recently in the news. I can't say why specifically nor am I saying that the way I feel is morally acceptable or correct, or that it's the proper recourse to take.. But personally, I want these people dead.

IMO, God is going to severely **** them up.

It's not about bloodlust, it's about removing something horrible from this world, and preventing them from ever doing it again.

I would fully agree if the concept of prisons hadn't been formulated a few millenia ago. As it is though, they do a decent job of what you just described
2008-11-12, 7:13 PM #38
I really don't think Horrible is even a sufficient word to describe this act and these people. :smith:

If that were true, then we would put them in prison for life which would accomplish the same thing for less money.

That's pathetic. I can't believe they didn't see it!

Step dads childhood was more than enough to SCREAM that he wasn't going to be a good adult.
