I'm in the process of applying for a two year vocational school with an apprenticeship with NOAA. If I get accepted, I'll get a 1600 ton offshore mates license from the Coast Guard, and get to drive big boats full of scientists and ****.

Bar Supervisor for the University of Liverpool Guild of Students. Just finished a shift working a Roller Disco. Well, we finished it a few hours ago, but we stayed for a few drinks afterwards. Perks of working behind a bar, I guess.

I got laid off just before Christmas, took a week off and now am doing contracting for a company that does independent evaluations of security software. I thought is sucked to get laid off, but now I'm making 20% more money so I really wish they had laid me off sooner. I was always happy at the company because I work from home 3 days per week and I figured it would be difficult to find another job that is cool with that. This contract gig I have going on is the same way so that's a huge bonus for me.

They're talking about bringing me on full time but I'm sure that'd mean a pay cut (because they'd then have benefits and whatnot). I have medical insurance through my wife already so I don't really need it. Ah well, decisions, decisions.
