True, the pay isn't great, and yes, I more or less get 2 months off. Except that during that time, I'm expected to take some sort of class/training/etc.

$45k is not a lot of money in many places in America.

That would be a lot of money to me. I don't get anywhere near that amount.

In England it starts circa £22k then creeps up about 1 kilopound per year thereafter. Not sure if there's a ceiling on that though.

Oh, and I GOTS NEW JOB!

I'm having a chat with them on the way home to discuss terms and what have you.

Why would you do that? You people are the scum of the earth. :(

I work tech support for my university. We don't support students though, just staff (grounds, campus safety, post office, housing, food service, finance and administration department, etc). It's a pretty sweet gig with some great perks. All of campus safety knows me by name (and I know most of them), I got a free campus-wide parking pass, and usually the post office ladies always grab my packages first and I don't have to wait in line.

Because if we didn't enforce our parking rules, everybody could park wherever they wanted whenever they wanted and it would be a royal mess. :( I always have people saying stuff like "Why can't I chain my bike to the handrail? You really enforce that? That's ridiculous, you guys are such *******s." But...they don't realize that the only reason they are able to chain their bikes to the rail is because 95% of the people on campus follow the rules and put them on the bike rack. If EVERYBODY put their bikes on the handrail, it'd be a fire hazard, it would look awful, and everyone would get pissed. What makes them so special?

Sorry. Went into my lecture-while-giving-a-ticket mode.
