What is your favorite carb side?

It's a tough choice for me but bread seems to be the winner every time I have a choice.

Food threads always turn out rotten in the end.

Anyhow, I like all of those except for rice. Yuck.

Then don't forget about them in the back of the fridge.

It's probably impossible to be a proper Finn and not love bread. Some commie henchman might pull it off, but that's it.

100% rye bread.

I've never really thought about 'carb sides' as opposed to 'normal sides', this strikes me as kind of a strange question. Especially given the options:

Pasta I'd typically have as a main meal (spaghetti, carbonara, whatever) and not as a side at all. Same with rice.
Bread I'd never consider as a side... it's either there to dunk in soup or it's for a sandwich and so is probably lunch.
So out of that list, potato is the only one I'd even have as a side.

I'm a student, pasta isn't a side. :P

Bread.
nope.
2009-02-15, 9:24 AM #11
Yea, I've never heard of pasta being a side before.
2009-02-15, 10:08 AM #12
Depends on the meal.

Really, I don't know why I voted for pasta, other than that it's about all I eat.

I can't believe anyone would ever try to make me chose between them. I like them all equally.

Really?

Because I'd rate rice far below the other 3.
nope.

rice on its own might not be anything to write home about, but it's damn good when combined with some things.

Potatoes can **** right off. The rest of those are pretty awesome though.

I'd die without potatoes.

My dad always says that if he had to choose only one food to live on for the rest of his life, it would be potatoes because you can do so many things with them. I personally only like oven-baked wedges and fries from time to time.

It's a throw up between rice and pasta.

Pretty much what he said. I agree also with the "can't chose between them" thing, and that rice is probably my least favorite of the favorites.

Bread is always good. Pasta, Rice and Potatoes are conditional.

Those are all awesome.

If I had to rate them, though --

1. Pasta
2. Bread
3. Tie between rice and potatoes, depending on how each one is made and what kind

What's funny is that the rest of us our enjoying our lives a lot more than you, and with an average amount of exercise we'll probably live just as long.

Isn't happydud a super weightlifter with his 5 gallon of milk day diet? Steamed broccoli and carrots wouldn't seem too abnormal with a diet of his.

Enjoying our lives a lot more?
That's going a bit far. For all you know happydud doesn't even like those foods, and enjoys his sides more.
I for one absolutely loved steamed carrot, he can keep the broccoli though ;p
Besides, we're talking about a side dish to a meal, not his entire life.
