The fruit of your W7 beta feedback!

Could you please send me that picture, that's absolutely beautiful.

It's part of the windows 7 install package. If you are in GB, go to your globalization folder in your system files and there's a whole bunch of wallpapers in there for different localizations.

This particular one is in America I think.

It changes automatically ever 30 minutes because of the wallpaper slideshow that Windows 7 has. One of my more favorite features.

I sort of wish W7 had some sort of multiple desktop or Expose-style functionality, tho. That's the only thing I've been wanting from it so far.

Thanks, I had it on Canada not knowing that Canada just gets generic pictures.
Silly MS, You forgot Canada!

I still stand by what I said when Vista came out.

It looks like a kid has gone ****ing crazy with photoshop filters on every single damn thing.

When it's stable I'll probably upgrade, but for now I'm clining firmly to my copy of XP.

What's wrong with a solid window? Does it have to be see-through and blurred to no end?
Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.

You can disable that if it's your only complaint.

I used to like the glass but lately it started to annoy me. I have Aero on, but the glass transparency off. It wouldn't be bad if you could adjust the transparency. Making it more opaque so that less of the background image bleeds through would cut back on visual noise a lot.

I don't use glass, I don't see the point.

Aero is snazzy though.
nope.

Vista is stable as ****, btw
2009-02-27, 8:21 PM #52
Vista for me has only crashed when some poorly designed program makes it, and thats pretty rare given how well coded Vista itself is.
Win7 beta is extremely stable too, I have never had a crash.

You can, at least in Vista.

No, you can't. You can only set the color intensity, it's not the same thing.

7 has never crashed for me, but programs become a bit unstable on it after a few days of uptime.

Yeah, didn't get the stability thing either. I haven't crashed on windows 7 and I've had it for a while now.

I think I had my first crash in 7 the other day. I was working on an assignment due at midnight, I had eight minutes left, and I got a blue screen IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL :gonk: That's usually an indication of a hardware issue in memory, though.

Ok. After learning some things, there is no way I'm gonna get W7 on my machine w/o the need of a larger HDD.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

It is pretty huge, but with the advent of terrabyte drives i think MS has thrown size optimization through the window.

I don't get how Vista/7 is better at the moment. It doesn't run many older or current XP programs reliably.

At the moment it just seems like it would be a downgrade to upgrade.

Don't get me wrong, it probably will eventually be the norm, but at the moment I think it'll save me a few headaches to stick on XP.

If it runs on XP it will run on 32bit vista/7, except for a very small number of exceptions.
However if you are switching to X64 then it is wise to keep an XP partition for those few old 16bit programs.

No this is not what I meant, I'm talking about the window label that shows up next to the icon. not it's size

zan: in start menu properties, choose 'never combine' along with the small icons and it will more or less function as vista's taskbar.

yeah, I just like when you have grouping on, it doesn't show the labels.
