When it comes to effectiveness, a flamethrower fails. Not to mention it wouldn't last long due to fuel limits. It's more the fear factor than practical use. If zombies have no fear of fire, then you're screwed.

shotguns have a problem with their effective range.... they may have great stopping power against a live target but zombies require accuracy and preferably at a reasonable distance... with a shotgun you have to let the zombies get a little too close to guarantee a headshot

also pick something that you can carry lots of ammo for... shotgun ammo is pretty bulky compared to .30 carbine even 7.62x39 and 5.56x45... in the space that a couple of 12ga shells takes i can store a 15rd magazine for my M1 carbine

Yeah, but do you have to destroy or completely scramble the brain to kill 'em? If so, a .30 carbine might not do it. I agree about the size of the cartridge being more convenient than a shotgun shell, though...but I've currently (in real life) got 2 bandoleers (or 50 shells) full of buckshot and slugs. And those are sure to take one out! ;)

5.56 FMJ seems like a waste of time on zombies. Too small and fast.


That being said, that car is awesome. I want it! Zombies or no!
