Beer thread 3/13/09

I was right, the Shakespear is way too heavy to float on Kell's. It floats on the Maximus though, which is an odd flavor combo, halfway through the bitter shifts from the front and mid tongue, and then goes straight to the back of the mouth. DT blew this morning though, so I'm drinking Brother David's Double right now.

Squirrel King, there's a place in town that just had a Barley Wine festival, I paid $10 for a few 8oz glasses there, depending on what kind of beer you're going for, $10 a 12oz isn't unheard of.

Crazy.
I though paying $10 for a local 4 pack was insane. I've had a ton of local brews that were expensive, but never in the $10+ range for a single beer.

They're usually not beers you'd want to sit down and drink 2 or 3 of though. It's more about actually tasting it. Like I've said before, the DFH 120 Minute IPA is like a hop liquor, I'd pay $10 for one easy, but they're not easily found here either so...

It was the Rochefort 10.

Oh wow. I'm pretty sure I only paid $5 for the Rochefort 6.

Found the Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale at another store for $10, and that was all the encouragement I needed. BeerAdvocate has various versions of it listed as either an imperial double/imperial IPA or an American strong ale, but I'd say it's really more like an ESB on steroids. Not exactly what I was expecting, but tasty.

If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.
