Jedi Knight was the only game that was *[edit: that "I" played] played as much as Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, Grand Theft Auto series and CoD4:MW.

I'd feel warm and fuzzy all over if we had a quaint little program like such. And what others have said; it'll bring back some people & maybe a few more levels.

MMMmmmmmmm..... updates at Massassi */me drools*

I love Zeq but current versions of JKLauncher missing alot of features, and I don't think he is really *actively* working on it.

yes but no auto-downloading and no protection from cheating!

also thinking upnp forwarding of ports would be nice

I think Gameranger.com client supports Jedi Knight and has listed upnp and cheat protection as features, although I suspect the cheat protection is some generic 'prevent memory address modification' and has nothing to do with cogs.

I think it's too late to revitialize Jedi Knight multiplayer, even if Lucasarts makes it available as a free download. Most of the people who are really interested in multiplayer will find their way to gamesurge.net #jk.

JK runs fine on my Vista Premium x64 (aside from needing to use -windowgui). I think people have reported issues with the CD install program, but you can always perform a manual install (http://jkhub.net/library/index.php/Tutorials:Install_JK)

One of you RIT students should host. You guys have the fastest connection speeds out of us all >.>

Speaking of which, I wonder if packet lag will be as amusing as it was back when most people had modems. Ah, the days of running back and forth on the bacta tank til it finally picked up.

A game listing ticker of some kind on massassi would be nice.
2009-03-31, 7:30 AM #46
Imagine if there was a little box at the top of the forum that listed what JK games were up, and which Massassians were in them? It'd allow us to jump on and have a few quick matches, and it'd always be there for a few people to play. Heck, that would be a good idea for any game that had a relatively few number of players and a forum.

Voted yes. It would be nice if you worked with Zeq, since he's already put a fair amount of time into something with a similar intent. I haven't been on JKhub IRC in awhile so I don't know how often he's around these days.

Bah Daemon doesn't run on Windows 7 .. What's another good ... whatever that was?

just extract the iso and run it from a folder, it will work. grab the jk.cd and put it in the resource folder so it won't check for the cd. and the video folder if you want videos :)

I'd play. I like the idea of server-side downloads for levels and mods, modding was a pain sometimes, even with such software as PC.

mmm JHS + Spork = win.

What exactly are you doing? I know Zeq did a lot of work using DirectPlay to get JKLauncher to work. You'll probably want to ask him about that. It would be nice to have a web app where current games can be viewed or joined. I wouldn't mind working on that.

If we're going to play an old game why can't we play a good game, like Quake?
2009-03-31, 2:01 PM #56
