Actually it literally translates as "way of love." "Ai" means "love" and "do" means "road" or "way." Eg, karate or karate-do, which means "the way of the empty hand." :hist101:

Kind of... From Wikipedia:

合 - ai - joining, harmonizing
気 - ki - spirit, life energy
道 - dō - way, path

"the Way of unifying (with) life energy."
or
"the Way of harmonious spirit."

The Way of Love is a nickname, not a translation.

I don't speak Japanese, so I'm in no position to argue. The "way of love" is just the interpretation I've heard the most. Cheers! :)
