I don't remember when the last one of these was, but I just changed mine so I figure I'd start one.

Oddly enough Timewolf, I've just changed mine (ok, so a total reformat requires such things) and it's of a very similar ilk to yours!

How's the Pre? I tried it a little bit at a Sprint store yesterday and I was pretty impressed. As a UTC employee I get crazy awesome discounts from Sprint/Verizon/AT&T, on the order of 20% off monthly fees. :awesome:

It's a 1.0 product. That means that while it is stable and useful, it does contain bugs and may be missing some "obvious" features. That said, the speed alone absolutely trounces the iPhone, and the multitasking is glorious. Nothing like using GPS Navigation, while listening to Pandora (it even turns the music down when the GPS app talks), all on EVDO, and then taking a call without needing to restart any of that. Also, not requiring any ridiculous task management like most WinMo phones (and it being generally faster) is nice.

The App Store is obviously lacking, but the apps that do exist are solid. No trash here, so far.

If using a 1.0 product doesn't bother you (and it doesn't to me, I figure updates will stabilize it (and there have been some already), and the 2.0 phone probably won't arrive until end of contract), I can't recommend anything better. The interface is amazing, and I love it.

Yes, BUT, there's a major restriction currently. You can only cut/copy from editable text. It's sort of sad. Lots of talk of this being expanded in updates, though. :carl:

What good is copy and paste if you have to close an app to paste elsewhere? :neckbeard:

Quite honestly, it's a feature I've used like twice maybe. It's not nearly as useful in the phone world as it is in the computer world.

Not unless they lied when they said they'd not do multitasking due to battery life issues.

I don't either. I do, however, use multitasking on my Pre a lot. I don't know how iPhone users live without it.

Multitasking in what way? Cause the only thing I can't really do that I'd want to do right now is have an IM client running while doing other stuff, and that's gonna change soon. Otherwise, stuff like being able to move from writing an e-mail to a web browser or whatever, well, I can do that already.

Like I said earlier:

IM client running, email checking (with notifications), Pandora, GPS Navigation, Where app (check gas prices), and I can do that all at the same time, without closing any specific app. (Although many things like email and IM can be closed and maintain their online/push status, like Apple is trying to do)

You can run any program at the same time, there are no restrictions whatsoever, regardless of whether it's a Palm app, or a third party app. Unlike Apple, who has limited any sort of multitasking to their apps only.

at Christmas time we had a gingerbread house contest and we used plastercine for props around the outside of the house for added effect once the candy was in place.

being bored at work a few weeks ago and having left over plastercine I made a dinosaur out of it, a week ago being even MORE bored at work I opened paint and drew the same dinosaur in MS PAINT, then I made a background for it.

Not sure if I got it to work right for Steam games. First of all you can't do it with the shortcuts Steam makes, cause they all point to steam.exe so the only windows that will stick to the taskbar button are the Steam windows, not the game ones (which run under hl2.exe or whatever). If you link directly to the hl2.exe or whatever, that will call steam.exe which in turn calls back the hl2.exe, and IIRC this confuses Windows enough that it makes a new taskbar button instead of linking it with your pinned one. :(

Ah well maybe we'll see better Windows 7 taskbar support as the release draws closer. I'm sure plenty of Valve devs will want to sticky L4D and TF2 in their taskbars.

  1. Google Chrome FTW.
  2. Why do you have a Chrome icon on your desktop AND pinned on the taskbar?
  3. Why your icons so TINY? Bigger icons are easier to hit in the world of 1280x1024 and up! :) They look nicer as wll. System tray takes up less space and gives you the date by the click, too.

I will confess that there are several of those pictures that I don't recognize.
Anyone care to name the games for me?
