Thanks to the new JKLauncher, I played my first organized game of JK in over 3 years....and got my *** kicked. I have a feeling this could be the start of something great.

ZeqMacaw of JKHub has made it easy to search for, join, and host games of JK. I suggest you all check it out.

JK runs just fine for me on Vista. There are plenty of tutorials Kirb.

Also, after going a round with UltimatePotato, we've discovered a few things about JKBOT.

-He is homophobic
-He has a monkey ball fetish
-He makes fun of the mentally challenged

Yeah, JKBOT is not very politically correct. That said... He mirrors the existing Jedi Knight playerbase quite well. :)

JKBOT was primarily made for NF gunners to practice against. He will use lightsaber if his opponent is using it, but JKBOT also gets confused if he is facing multiple opponents.

JK works on Windows Vista and Windows 7, both x86 and x64. The problem is some newer video cards, which will break on any OS.

JK will not work with 3D acceleration anymore, so I don't even want to.

JK is still cool with nvidia, right?

Anyway, JK has been dead for most of this decade anyway so everything that makes more than 5 non-ReT people play JK again is "a new era".

Of course, JK in Steam would start a genuine new era but that's pretty unlikely methinks. Well, at least for MP.

Red Faction 2 was released on Steam and doesn't support DX10 cards (Says on the store page) so that lowers the bar to about ankle height.

Some people are experiencing problems with the Geforce 9xxx series and the latest drivers. Reverting to something like 186.xxx series driver fixes it.

I would have guessed it would effect the Geforce 8xxx series too but I don't think anyone confirmed this.

JK and MotS ran better with my GF8600GT than they did with my GF6600, even though there still were some glitches but at least I was able to work on TODOA without any major hijinks. A shame the card died so editing TODOA takes 6 times more time due to 3D preview being slow as hell.

Just asking because I'll be getting a new comp probably at the end of this year (when TODOA is finished) and I've been an nVidia junkie since 2002... would still be nice to play custom JK and MotS stuff every now and then.

Then again, everybody knows the new era of JK will begin with the release of

I would say that is an ugly level, for sure. I remember most of the single player campaign stuff felt remarkbly "Star Wars" just like Dark Forces did (although I think Dark Forces did an even better job of that).

Of course, though, any over-decade old game that came out at the beginning of the true 3D FPS shooters would definitely show it's age at this point.

I'm surprised no one's made minor graphical updates to the MP levels. Nothing to the extent of JKE, but even rounding out some of those corners and some lighter plugin would improve the look dramatically.

Is there a way to play with JKE against normal vanilla people? It just changes the textures and shiz, but I don't know if it works like that.

The other players don't have to be using Jedi Knight Enhanced (JKE). The patch only affects your local machine.

Heh, I think ultimately you have to test. With the way Nvidia rebrands their old tech its impossible to be 100%.

There are only issues with the most recent drivers, if the last time you downloaded Forceware was like 6 months ago then your probably fine.

Who said I didn't? :P

JKL is fantastic. The new release is just full of great stuff (I've had it for a while, since I was beta testing, but yeah).

On the subject of JK and Vista/Windows 7 - it works just fine.

As everyone states, the problem lies with any DX10 ATI video card. Not sure about the NVIDIA 9xxx series, but my 8800GT is up to date and works just fine. :)

It doesn't work for me. As soon as I try opening JK in jklauncher, it crashes and says there was an error with the .NET database. .(

Crashes for me also. Problem is that I have the needed frameworks.

Here's the v2.0 one, for Zell.

Or 3.5 if you want to be fancy and up to date about it. :P

For the people that are having problems with JKLauncher crashing, could you send ZeqMacaw a little information about the specific framework error message (if it gives one) and maybe include which operating system you are using.
