You posted a thread about the new body style when it was just coming out. I saw the thread and it stuck in my mind.
July 4th, I got a new 45th Anniversary Edition 2009 GT Convertible.
...8 days later, it was totalled.
After a long, long, long car search, I decided to get a 2010 V6 Premium on Friday.
My take on the V6 insecurity "not a real sports car" complex -- because the 09 GT was new, the DMV has not yet even issued a title for the car. Insurance will not pay off the loan until this happens, so I couldn't finance much of a new car. I got this with cash and I'd rather own a new commuter car with a sleek look than a new commuter car with a commuter car look... call it post-sports car therapy. There were some compelling used options at a comparable price point (e.g. BMW 3 series), but this way, every mile I put on this thing is mine. So far, I'm very happy with my decision.
And even as a V6, maybe they didn't know what's what, but I still get ego-stroke moments like when bro #1 nudged bro #2 and pointed/jaw-dropped as I passed by.
I'm glad your ride turned out okay, Spiral.
